Hi, I have a Toshiba LED smart TV 58L4300UC. The power go off randomly after 5 -15-30-60-90 minutes and then try to go back on. Sometimes it works for some minutes before going off again, and other times it just stay on (green light) with the black screen and no sound. I try many things, like the power reset or the factory reset. Deactivate all the possible options on the TV, nothing works. The problem come more often then 2 days ago, I can barely watch for 30 minutes straight now. The TV is almost 2 years old, I found that it was turned on when we came back from vacation, probably went on after the lost of electricity in the house after rainstorm... thanks for the help!
Hiu Annick,
The cause of this problem lies in the power supply board of your TV. Most probably the main dc filter capacitor, the thickest one on the whole board, 150mf/450v should be defective. If you open the back cover and check, you may find this capacitor swollen up at the top. Apart from this you may find some other small capacitors also gone bad.
Another thing, please never leave your TV in stand by mode for long hours, specially when you are not home. Any power fluctuation during this period can harm your set.
A word of caution, please be very careful if you want to do it yourself, because your set is a big one and any wrong move can damage the panel.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck.
Testimonial: "Thanks for the tips. I looked earlier today at capacitors from the power supply board but everything looks fine to me. No fluids were out and I did not notice any swollen up capacitors. I'll check again tomorrow. Are you sure it's the power supply board and not the main board? I have no problem powerering it on, watch some TV for minutes before it goes off by itself. Then try to restart by itself after a minute or two. Sometimes it works before going off again, sometimes the screen stay black with no sound and the green power light on. Thanks again for your help!"

Hi Annick,
Before doing any replacement please check all the connectors. Remove them and refit properly. There will be a flat ribbon about 2" wide going from main board to LCD panel. Please take out the connectors clean the cable ends carefully with an ear bud soaked in some after shave lotion or any other alcoholic liquid and refit it on both the ends. The connectors on this cable have locks on the sides and you have to press them while pulling it out. Please be careful while doing it.
Secondly, at times it is difficult to pin point the real culprit without actual voltage measurement even for Techs like us and without actual replacement for amateurs like you.
Hi Annick,
If nothing has worked so far may I advise you to kindly send your request to shopjimmy.com's expert team. They can provide you the solution with the necessary spare part.
I will be happy, and grateful to you to know their response.
Thanks.

Did all that, nothing has changed, it shuts down after 45 minutes. One thing I forgot to mention is that the TV always have a better stretch the first time of the day I turn it on, it's like it's cooler or something. I'll add some photos to see if you can spot something unusual. Thanks again.
I did write to shopjimmy.com but I don't expect any answers soon.
the original pictures are greatly better to spot details and zoom in. Fixya.com shrink it automatically sorry.
Hi Annick,
Sorry for the delay in responding as I was out of station. Thanks for the details. In actual practice we decide the faulty board by measuring various voltages. The power and main board communicate with each other through commands in the form of voltages. At the time of fault we check the relevant voltage. Any missing or abnormal voltage leads to its source and so to the defective board. These voltages are generally printed near the connectors. Some of them are power on, bal on (backlight), brightness control (backlight), backlight control etc. Any of them missing will shut your TV down. I don't know how handy you are with a multimeter. Yesterday I replaced the main board in a Samsung LCD for a similar fault. Power on command from main board to power board used to disappear in this case. In your case also the main board seems to be defective from what you have nerated about the fault. I wish I could fix your Tv myself. Since it is not possible please go ahead and give it a try yourself.
Good Luck.
No problem, I'm not in a hurry to proceed. So if I understand correctly, you suggest to replace the main board instead of the power board like you suggest earlier? Since the power in the TV is not the problem (green light evertytime), but something in the main board decide to shut everything off after 45 minutes or so... And then restart... but shut off after 10 minutes, and then restart and shut off after 5 minutes, and on and on and on... I'l try to get myself a multi-meter and test voltage, is there a video somewhere that show how to proceed?
Correction: now after several tests, once the TV first shut down itself it's still power on back with a steady green light but no images/sounds. I'm unable to turn it off with remote or with the button on the TV, I have to unplug it.
This is a case of main board getting 'hanged'. The microprocessor stops functioning and hence is the problem you are facing. There are reasons for this fault also but that needs to go deep into the main board. For you it is better and safer to replace the main board.
Goodluck.
Thanks, I'll keep you updated when it will be done.
Unfortunately I did change the main board but the same problem came on 5 minutes after the first power on... I'll try to sell my main board now...
