Hey Justin, greetings!
What exactly are trying to get?
The correct measurement for:

  • A new cover?
  • Amount of paint?
  • Amount of gallons of water in pool?
  • Something else?
Square Footage is simply calculating...
  • Length x Width
    • In your case - 16 x 32
    • Your pool has 512 Sq. Ft.
  • This would get you an estimated price on any type of cover
If you want to know how many gallons of water in your pool...
  • Length x Width x Average Depth (deep to shallow) x 7.4
    • As stated earlier - L x W = Sq Ft
    • Sq Ft x A D = Cubic Feet
    • C F x 7.48 = Total gallons in pool
      • There are 7.48 gallons in a C F
And finally the more difficult for last - Painting a pool.

The formula is as follows:

(L x W) + (L x Avg Depth x 2) + (W x shallow depth) + (W x deep depth) = Total square footage of surface area of all the pool sides and bottom.

To determine average depth in a pool where the bottom slopes: Measure the shallow end and measure the deep end. Add them together and divide by 2. This is the average depth of your pool.

Below is an example using a 16 x 32 pool with a Shallow depth of 4', a deep depth of 8' and an average depth of 6' feet

Depending on the texture of your pool, painted before, will you be applying more than a single coat? etc. the average gallon of pool paint will cover a range from 200 to 300 Sq Ft
Good Luck

What you looking to know?

Square feet suggests a flat area, like the floor plan of the pool, which would be 16 x 32 = 512 square feet. Like you'd measure walls for tiles or paper etc.

As you've given 3 dimensions, sounds like your after the cubic capacity/volume of the pool, in which case your looking at cubic feet (same as flat area above, but with the added depth to go from flat 2d, to 3d (2 vs 3 dimensions)), which would be 16 x 32 x 10 = 5,120 cubic feet.

How to calculate square feet

Assume you have a rectangular area such as a room and, for example, you want to calculate the square footage area for flooring or carpet. The way to calculate a rectangular area is by measuring the length and width of your area then multiplying those two numbers together to get the area in feet squared (ft2).

Can someone tell me what the square footage is in a board 2 inches thick 8 inches wide and 8 foot long please

if you are staining the edges and both sides it will work out as follows

Each flat side is roughly 5.28 square feet or 10.5 square feet total per board.

The edges add rougly another 2.4 square feet so rough answer would be 13 square feet per board.

How do I get the square footage of concrete sidewalk

  • Hi Tony: Don't know what this has to do with air conditioners but .......
  • Square footage is the mathematical result when you multiply length by width.
  • Since you're trying to find square feet. the dimensions that you are using must be in feet.
  • Length (feet plus (inches divided by 12))
  • times
  • Width (feet plus (inches divided by 12))
  • equals

Cubic feet caculator

Cubic foot is a measure of volume. Square foot is a measure of area. There is no direct conversion.

Your question is like asking "How much water is in a swimming pool that's 450 square feet?" Obviously, the answer depends on how deep the pool is.
