In most boat like this there is some space in the bow yes. I cut unto mine by cutting into a piece of 3/4 plywood about 6 inches, then held the board down where I wanted to cut and used a jig saw on an angle to the fiberglass to cut the starter hole, Then the piece I cut out fit perfectly as the hatch to access the storage.

Will a dent on the bottom of a Venus to effect the boat's ability to track a straight line?

Oilcanning is a fairly common problem usually caused by improper storage or transport of your kayak, especially if it's hot out. Gently heating your hull (either by laying your kayak upside down in the sun on a warm/hot day or by using a heat gun CAREFULLY) MIGHT pop the dent out. If you were dealing with a single-hulled kayak, a little gentle pressure on the area with the dent while it's warm/hot would definitely do the trick. Not sure how I would approach a double hulled kayak, but it would probably be a combination of heat and pressurizing the inside of the hull or heat and water on the inside of the hull...would have to experiment.

Yamaha 1100 triple dead battery

You must have the WVT1100 Wave Venture if you can't find the battery. Remove the rear seat, then remove the storage bin that is under the seat. The battery is in the hull below that white bin.

A65 Transducer

jmiller,

Sound like your getting turbulence from the hull or your angle is allowing cavitation under the transducer. Look under the hull where the traducer is mounted and look for a part that has no obstruction including saltwater pickups, hull relieves, etc. The other thing to check is to take a strait edge on the bottom of the transducer to ensure the angle is slightly forward than the hull.

How do I create folders?

Under WinXP Pro the MP020 shows up as 'Panasonic Audio Player' with a folder 'Fixed Storage'. Try to do File>New Folder on the 'FIxed Storage' and no can do.
Build a new folder under you C: drive.
Go back and clip on 'Fixed Storage'. I see a file WMPinfo.xml.
Go back to the folder you just built under C: and click/drag to the right.
The new folder should be under the 'Fixed Storage' folder.
The new folder under 'Fixed Storage' has a bot more functionality associated.
I'm not crazy about having to do it this way but it works.
Now someone tell me how to speed up the transfer process
