I want to repaint the exterior to make it look nicer and treat the rust what paint would you recommend please?

Hi there, you want to use 120 grit sand paper to sand off, remove the flaky bits of the rust. Then paint with ( zinser all coat satin ) hope this helps. Let me know if you need more help : )

Sand back and treat the rust with a phosphoric acid rust converter,then prime and paint as per usual,you question does'nt state where you are and local regulations usually say what sorts of paints you can or can't use
