Thanks for the prompt reply. Somehow my 2 year old daughter managed to mess up the region code on the DVD and I want to change it back. Is there button in the machine to reset to factory defaults?

    Thanks

    Andrew

You can get a region free dvd player on your computer and then you can play dvd with any region code. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which can do this.

There's no guarantee that you can 100% succeed in hacking your DVD player. The more suitable choice for dealing with the region code issue is to create a region free copy of your DVD discs. You can use Leawo Blu-ray Copy to create region free Blu-ray/DVD copies. For a detailed guide on creating region free Blu-ray/DVD copies with the program, check this out: How to Make 1 1 Disc to Disc Blu ray Backup with 1 Click Blu ray Copy...

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.
Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada
Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/
South America
Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian
subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China
The only way to get around the region codes, is to rip a DVD to your computer and remove the region code. Then burn the DVD to a DVD R. There are programs around on the net, but I'm not sure it is legal in all countries.
Google for the programs.
A DVD player sometimes allows you to change the region code once. But it not even would allow you to switch back after you changed it once.

Want to unlock Philips DVD player (DVP320)

Did you follow these instructions exactly? If you pressed 9990, as you mentioned, it will not work. You need to press 99990. Do you see region "0" on the display?

start the player without any DVD in it.
open the lid.
while the lid is open press 9,9,9,9,0
you should see region 0 displayed.
close the lid.

Your DVD player is now region free.

note:
replace 0 with 1 to 6 at to set the wanted region number if needed.
