When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player. Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/ South America Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China The only way to get around the region codes, is to rip a DVD to your computer and remove the region code. Then burn the DVD to a DVD R. There are programs around on the net, but I'm not sure it is legal in all countries. Google for the programs. A DVD player sometimes allows you to change the region code once. But it not even would allow you to switch back after you changed it once.

I can't answer the first part of the question, but the DVD going blocky and jumping sounds like fingermarks or muck on the disc. It could be that when you handle the DVD your finger leaves a mark near the outside edge of the DVD. In future wipe the DVD with a glasses cloth, then handle by the very edge only.

the pick up lens is dirty you need to clean it manually by removing the cover.use a cotton buds moistened with an alcohol gently wipe it on the lens then try again

1: Turn DVD player on, with NO DVD in the tray.

2: Press Repeat on remote control (bottom right key)

3: Enter 76884

4: Press 9

5: Open tray, close tray

6: Turn off DVD player, turn it back on.

Hi your audio amp board got problem, buy one from ebay save repair cost.

On the rear of your TV connect, with a phono/RCA cable to the Audio R + L sockets, connect the other ends to your Yamaha using the TV in sockets. See photos attached Hope that helps. HDMI is for video unless the extra pins are added for audio.

Normally makers don't play ball between each other. Yes if it was a Samsung Television and a Samsung Receiver A/V System. Or if you have something like a Cable Box or Satellite System that is made to interact with other makes. Or if it is a Universal Remote. I think you were just lucky that it happened to use the same frequency.
