Get your circuit tester out and check if you are getting a live feed with the ignition on and a live feed with the ignition off to the radio! Then check the earth wire is making a good contact! If this is ok then you will need to get the radio tested!

I have 2008 passat and the blaupunky radio cd player powers up no problem showing all the radio stations but there is no volume and I have tried to get it working but I can't, Any Ideas

Try a capacitive discharge, remove both battery terminals and hold them together for thirty seconds, if that fails check your fuses on the back of the radio.

99 vw passat replaced battery now car wont start

Turn your key in the ignition to on position and Check to see if your radio and lights work. If everything is turning on then most likely the anti-theft system was activated when removing the old battery. Look for some kind kill switch underneath your steering wheel

The battery on my 2008 Volkswagen passat keeps draining. I have replaced the alternator and replaced two batteries so far but the problem is still there.

You need to find the source of the drain on the battery. To do this you will need a multimeter set up to read DC current (ammeter from zero to 1amp range). Switch engine off, switch radio off and disconnect the negative lead to the battery terminal. Connect negative lead of ammeter to negative battery lead and the positive lead of the ammeter to the negative battery terminal. With all electrical items switched off the current reading should be very low, no more than just a few milliamps to keep the dashboard clock running etc. If there is an appreciable current flow locate the fuse box and remove and replace each fuse in turn, note any changes in current and note down the fuse(s) that result in the greatest drop when the fuse is removed. Now switch on an interior light (open a door) just to show you how much extra current is drawn from the battery as a result of its coming on. Is this the sort of current being drawn from the battery when the door is closed? Check out that the circuit with the greatest current drain has a legitimate reason for being on (car alarm maybe). If there is no reason for the current draw then find the item left on when it should be off. A classic case is the trunk (boot) light or the glove box light being left on when the lid is closed. These lights are disconnected by contact switches that open (break the electrical circuit)) when when the lid is closed. Checking the trunk light is easy, just climb in and ask a friend to open and close the lid. The car doors too have contact switches by the hinges and these determine when the interior lights come on or off etc. Check all contact switches by pressing them open by hand and registering the current changes with their opening and closing.

How to exit Radio Safe mode on my passat

Hi
Wiih most radio units....If you have the proper code and have NOT tried more than 15 times to enter an incorrect code....you should be ok.
Turn OFF ignition switch and remove the key. Switch OFF interior lights. Switch ON Radio unit and SAFE will appear.
Leave everything alone for a period of ONE HOUR. During this time NO power (no matter how small) should be drawn from the battery. This is why the interior lights MUST NOT come ON when the door is opened. Trunk should also remain closed. In the event of any power been drawn from the battery in this time...You must start all over again.
Radio should after this time return to standard mode...Usually 4 flashing bars. Then enter your code. Dont forget to lock in the code and all should be fine
All the best with it

1999 PASSAT 1.8 STANDARD. DOES NOT CRANK OR START. I PUSH IT AND TURNS ON. BATTERY WORKS(RADIO AND LIGHTS TURN ON)

Still the battery can be the fault. the starter can be too. The clutch in switch can be it, even the wire off of the switch ( your big toe hit it ) The battery cables at the battery are the first place to look take them off and clean them as they can still turn on the lights but not crank the engine even with a good ( but dirty ) battery

Headlights out on a 95 passat wagon

Sounds like the headlight switch itself... You can verify by removing the switch and checking continuity across the switch (with a meter or powered test light) in the on position... hope this helps...;-)
