This is a typical error code. Take a flashlight and look closely inside after removing the cartridge. There probably is a speck of paper that may be covering the sensor. Paper pieces are hard to find sometimes but be patient and look closely lifting up the registration cover assembly. Also look in the tray for a paper that may have not gone through correctly. Remove the tray and also look up in the cavity of the printer.

SOURCE: I have an HP LaserJet4 and I'm suddenly (as of

41.3 - points to a miss match in the paper tray.
First -
Pull out your paper trays, take the paper out and confirm the guide in the back is set to the correct position. (The little mechanism on the tray which allows you to use different paper types, example letter to A4).

Second -
The other which may have happened it the paper handling was mis-configured on the machine:
- Press the Menu Button on the machine.
- Using the + and - button go to the Printing Menu.
- Select Paper confirm that the paper size is correct for the trays within the machine.
Third -
- Depending on the document you are attempting to print make sure the document type is either adjusted to the type of paper your using or to load the correct paper into the machine. I seen where people send you a legal document and your attempting to print it on letter.
Fourth -
It could be a driver related issue, 98% of the time this is not the case. If all fails above, then attempt this.
Let me know if this helps!
Lastly it could be a driver related issue, however if more than 1 person uses it don't count on it.

Error 13 on epson dfx 9000 printer

Hi Good day!!

Error 13 is a printer error code that signifies that there is a paper jam. You need to check the jam in the entry if your system shows this error. Error 13 also indicates the need to replace the pickup roller in the printer.

It sounds like the fuser gears are broken, that happens with paper jam sometimes from all the heat of the fuser. A new fuser will probably run around $100.00 for that machine.

My Brother HL-2040 paper led light won't stop flashing, the paper's not jammed or anything, I just put in a new toner, too. I tried doing what someone else said about opening the cover and holding Go until...

Hi. The reasons listed in the manual that cause the LED to flash normally are:

Front cover is open
Close the front cover of the printer.
Back cover is open
Close the back cover of the printer.
Paper jam
Clear the paper jam. See Paper jams and how to clear them on page 6-5.
If the printer does not start printing, press the Go button.
No paper fed manual feed slot
Put the paper in the manual feed slot. See Printing on plain paper, bond paper
or transparencies from the manual feed slot on page 1-10 or Printing on thick
paper, labels and envelopes from the manual feed slot on page 1-13.
Memory full
The printer memory is full and the printer cannot print full pages of a
document. See Solving print problems on page 6-15.
Print overrun
A print overrun occurred and the printer cannot print full pages of a document.
See Solving print problems on page 6-15.
Drum Error
The corona wire needs to be cleaned. See Cleaning the corona wire on page 5-14.

If you check out page 6-5 it tells how to clear the paper jam from the rear of the machine! A point often missed.

Check out the website below if you don’t have a copy of the instruction manual =

http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/files/dlf/doc002089/US_Eur.pdf

If all else fails, try a reset of the printer Drum & Page counter:
  1. With printer tuned on.
  2. Press and hold the “internal button” behind front cover, until all LEDs illuminate.
  3. Make sure Drum light is off, then release and close front cover.
Hope some of this helps………..Please post a response back here and let us all know if it works?............Regards, Cornwellnet (UK)

40 MIO ERROR

HP's support document on error 13 paper jam:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=25484&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=25484&objectID=bpl01309

According to my "HP LaserJet Family Quick Reference Service Guide, Vol. 1", on page 38 and 39:

40 Error (data transfer error)

(among other possibilities, these two seem most applicable:)

- The MIO card is unseated or defective - remove, reseat, or replace the MIO card

- An abnormal connection break occurred while transferring data from the computer.

The manual further indicates that a 40.1 means the MIO in slot 1 has the problem; a 40.2 means the MIO in slot 2 has the problem.

I'd try turning the printer off and reseating the card, and if that doesn't work, try swapping it out if you can.
