Download and use Garmin Express as a clean install. Use the Web Updater. Make sure the Device is registered on the Garmin website. I am on my third Garmin Auto GPS and never had a unit that couldn't be reset or updated.

Try switching it off and remove and SD card that holds the map data check the map data is installed properly I think PMP is the map data format. It can not find this. Either the data has become corrupt or the gps can not read the card or map medium.

Hi. I had the same problem, and i fixed it by creating a APShell.ini file wich was missing in MyFlashDisk\Shell directory.
In APShell file :

Try this, I have similar issue with the unit freezes and has a box in upper right corner. Go to the Nokia website, download their software update wizard and follow the instruction. It will flash the unit and fix the issue.
