SOURCE: Diference between Cold boot and warm boot

A warm boot restarts the mobile computer by closing all running programs. All data that is not saved is lost.

A cold boot also restarts the mobile computer, but erases all stored records and entries from RAM. In addition it returns formats,
preferences, and other settings to the factory default settings.

Cannot Establish a Microsoft ActiveSync connection between host PC and MC9090

Motorola MC9090
Motorola MC9090 Target Platform fetch.php?media=installation:symbol:mc9090.jpg This guide is intended for use with a Symbol MC9090 running Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0. Assumptions
  • Technician should be familiar with connecting the terminal via cradle, USB and ActiveSync.
  • Technician already has the SyVox Client CAB and a grammar CAB (either the generic one or a site specific one)
Installation Procedure
  1. Set up and save your wireless configuration.
  2. Establish an ActiveSync1) connection between your PC and your terminal.
  3. Copy the SyVox Client and Grammar CAB files to the device in a known directory.
  4. From the device, install the SyVox Speech Client and Grammar CAB files by tapping on them from the directory you installed them in.
  5. If this is your first time running SyVox on this terminal, SyVox will request a License Key. Go to the Menu ? License screen where you will be given a screen with a field for your License Key and your SyVox Serial Number (your device's unique identifier). Contact Genesta with the SyVox Serial Number displayed to receive a 16-character License Key for the top field. Enter it and tap OK.
  6. To perform a simple test of your installation after SyVox finishes loading the speech engine, tap Menu ? Options ? Host Settings.... Choose the File option; then select the demo.xml file provided with installation; and, then the OK selection to accept that demo file. Select the Press to START Listening button near the bottom of the screen to begin the demo. Remember to have your headset nearby as the built in microphone is not sufficent for production environments.
  7. Once you are ready to use this device with a remote host, to connect SyVox to a remote host, tap Menu ? Options ? Host Settings.... Select a Connection Method, enter a Connection Address, and tap OK.
    • A Socket host address is entered in the format *.*.*.*:*, (IP or hostname, colon (:), port (optional; defaults to 3001)).
    • A Web host address host is entered in the format http://*:*/ (http://, IP or hostname, colon (:), port (optional; defaults to 80), rest of address).
Notes

Warm Boot

Sometimes Windows Mobile devices require you perform a warm boot. This can be achieved on this device my holding down the red on/off button for approximately 30 seconds. You will know when the warm boot has completed when a white screen is displayed and the unit restarts the operating system.

Cold Boot

Program installations and settings on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 devices will persist even after a cold boot. To achieve the effects of what a cold boot does on other devices, you must perform a clean boot. Because a clean boot requires interaction between a PC and a terminal in the first place, SyVox is currently not designed to reinstall automatically after a clean boot. Therefore, if you perform a clean boot on your terminal, you will have to repeat the procedures listed in this guide. 1) ActiveSync acts as the gateway between your Microsoft Windows-powered PC and Windows CE-powered device and allows you to transfer data between the two. Download it here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/4/6/5467c040-a935-4987-aa30-5dcbc36a57db/setup.msi hope that helps

How do i restore factory settings on a motorola MC 9062 Handheld

Look at support.symbol.com, for quick reference guide and cold boot intructions. Cold boot should be a key combination, if that fails you could try re flashing the device from an SD card or through Activesync and a cradle.

My computer has a RAMDDR2 but would not start up,can u help me diagnose and troubleshoot?

First make sure you haven't installed too much memory. The computer uses DDR 2 memory but what is the maximum amount it can use. If it can only support 2mb and you have 4 installed the computer will read that as an error during boot up. Second, disconnect the Keyboard and as the computer is booting access the BIOS. disable the stop on all errors setting so it can get past not sensing the keyboard and see if that boots. If the computer boots after that the problem is a fault in your keyboard like a stuck key which will give you the constant beep. If you see the spalsh or BIOS screens then the problem is not the Video Card. If you don't get those screens double check and make sure the Video card is properly installed with nothing installed in a slot directly below it as this sometimes causes conflicts.

Mc 7094 off power led green on

Mabee the hard drive has failed . try entering bios and see if the hard drive is recognised .If not try turning the computer off unplug it then reconnect the drive data cable and power cable
then re- start the computer and see if it is recognised. some models of older hard drives needed a driver installed during set up -- you usually have to put the driver on a floppy disc and hit the f6 button when prompted by windows set up to install third party drivers . I hope this helps
