Check if your fan is moving when you power on your computer. It probably isn't powered, try to search your motherboard map (I got one with all other manuals and safety instructions) and carefully try to connect all cables.

Hmmm, I have seen a few people reporting this problem with this motherboard... seems to me that it might be a bug in the bios. Well, I had exactly the same problem. It did not even give a beep sound when the memory was completely removed. I was convinced that the motherboard was faulty. Then I thought of trying the following that helped:

On the board the JCMOS1 has 3 pins and pins 1 and 2 are closed in normal operation. Moving the jumper to pins 3 and 4 puts the motherboard in clear CMOS memory mode. So this is what I tried; I move the jumper to pins 3 and 4, pressed power a few times (although I don't think that is necessary), and after about 30 seconds I moved the jumper back to pins 1 and 2. Then when I pressed power the motherboard FINALLY emitted a beep and started up. On first start up I got a message, something to the effect of "CMOS checksum error", but I was then able to go into the bios reset defaults. I then saved and went out and my motherboard has been working fine since then. Hope this helps someone who has a similar issue.

Hello here are the homepages:

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=531&CategoryID=1&MenuID=16&LanID=9

Here are the other model ( version 3,1 )

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=548&CategoryID=1&MenuID=16&LanID=9

This is important when the drivers needed to be found.

But here seems to be no drivers for windows 7.

Here is only drivers for vista and xp, and there is absolutely no guaranty, the drivers will work on windows 7.

You need to setup the bios boot settings, in order to boot from the drive.
First boot device dvd drive, and second the harddrive.
This selection is urgent, when installing windows.

Other selections maybe needed, depending on the bios version.
The sata drive, should be shown in the bios main meny, when entering the bios.

I suggest you to download the manual, if you don`t have it, and read the setup install section, for basic boot procedure.

Good luck

Your mainboard supports P-IDE and SATA drives.

A large ide drive, is hard to find, but a sata drive does
come up to 3 tb.
But it depends what windows system you have.
Windows xp, supports up to 2 tb, with the latest service pack installed.

Good luck

Your motherboard is a BIOSTAR right ?

Ok there are 2 versions I will post the drivers for those 2 versions.

P4M800-M7A v1.0
http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en%2Dus/mb/driver.php?S_ID=92

These are the complete drivers, the sound driver is there too under onboard audio.

P4M800-M7A v7.0
http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en%2Dus/mb/driver.php?S_ID=93

From what I can see they both use the same drivers.

I hope this helps.

The elitegroup website has a similar name but no A at the end
P4M800-M7
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?detailid=531&DetailName=Driver&DetailDesc=&CategoryID=1&MenuID=6&LanID=0

So from your model I would say it is a biostar, get it from the links above, if it is an elitegroup (ECS) get it from the last link.

Microsoft has a program that will run on your current PC. It will check & confirm if your system can handel Vista. It will also show you what is not compatible with Vista. It will check every piece of hardware including your board & even your printer if it's connected & turned on.
It's a must use program for people who are thinking of installing Vista.

Out the windows installation disk in the drive and restart the computer. When the screen pops up select to install windows and Format the hard drive. That is the easiest way to do it.
