1994 Magnavox is stuck in set up mode and our remote doesn't work to get it out

The buttons on the TV no longer work and it is stuck in set up mode where it says over and over how great the TV is and lists it's qualities like color adjusting and sleep mode. It won't do anything other than repeat that over and over. What can I do other than junk it?

*CONVERGENCE SERVICE MODE PROCEDURES*

*Note: This procedure is required for all of the following geometry and
convergence adjustments.*

*Using the remote transmitter, enter the following seven-button sequence to
activate the convergence mode.*

* 06 - 25 - 97 - Menu (M)*

*The "Opening Menu" will appear offering choices:*

*Note: video information must be present to correctly adjust the
convergence. A signal source is required to lock the vertical and
horizontal sync. After entering the "convergence service mode" verify the
presence of a video source by confirming the presence of active audio (use
the volume up function on the remote). Use the channel up and down function
on the remote to select the desired tuning source.*

* *

*Select item "M" from the first menu, the "Convergence Menu" will appear
featuring 5 possible selections.*

adjusted. Example: If you select Green to Red Convergence (4) cover the Blue
Output Lens.*

*4. The highlighted adjustment Icon (Cross) should be illuminated on
the middle left side of the screen. Make the necessary Convergence
Adjustments using the following Remote Keys:*

Exit/Save the Convergence Service Mode by selecting Key 1 on the Remote
Transmitter. This forces the corrections to be written to the EEPROM on the
Convergence Module.*

* *

* *

* *

*Note: To save the convergence corrections made above you must exit the
convergence menu by selecting Exit/Save Data (1)*

SOURCE: Magnavox 52" Inch TV - The buttons on front will not work

If you do not have the manual for it, download it here:

http://www.nodevice.com/user_manual/philips/tv_projection1/51mp392h17.html

Check to see if the set has a parental lockout that might be active.

You can buy an original remote here:

http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m1=51mp392h17&uuid=12152988558390

Be cautious about buying a 'universal' remote, I've got a couple to sell - cheap.
They aren't very universal.

SDTV REMOTE CODES FOR MAGNAVOX

Hi

On the URC 4330 model the Magnavox brand is not listed in the code index.

Therefore, you should be aware that this remote may not have code stored in its pre-programmed library to allow it to operate Magnavox.

There is a code search function with this remote and this is your only other option in a situation such as this.

TO SEARCH FOR YOUR CODE FOR YOUR TV

1. On the remote control, press TV once.

2. Press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice, then release SET.

3. Enter 9 - 9 - 1.The LED will blink twice.

4. Aim the remote control at the TV and slowly alternate between pressing POWER and TV. Stop when the TV turns off.

NOTE: In the search mode, the remote control will send IR codes from its library to the selected device, starting with the most popular code first so this may take some time to complete.

5.Once you find the point at which the remote operates the TV press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice, then release SET. This locks in the code.

As I say - the remote may or may not compatible with Magnavox. However this search function is there to use in situations such as this.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.

Durabrand TV stuck on AUX mode

You can program a Comcast remote to work with the TV. Press the "TV" button on the Comcast remote. Then, hold down the "Setup" button until the red light blinks 3 times. Enter a 5 digit code:
These are the Durabrand codes: 10171 10463 10180 10178 11034
The 10171 code worked for my Durabrand DWT1905. Then use the TV/VCR button located beneath the "7" to switch inputs.

Cannot program dish remote to operate tv

Please follow the steps below to program your remote control to equipment other then your DISH receiver:
Note: If you start this procedure and at any time and do not press a button within 20 seconds, the remote will end the procedure automatically. Simply start over again. Use the TV button for your TV, the VCR button for your VCR or DVD player. These Mode buttons are located at the top of your remote control.
1. With the desired equipment on, press and hold the correct Mode button until all mode button backlights illuminate, then release.
2. Press the numbers 5-0-0 on the remote control.
3. Press the Pound (#) button on the remote.
4. Press and hold the correct Mode button until all mode button backlights illuminate, then release.
5. Press and release the Power button on the remote control.
6. Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will power off.
7. Press the Pound (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.
8. To verify the code works try several different functions for that equipment.
We cannot guarantee our remotes will work all other devices. If this does not correct the issue, unfortunately our remote will not work for that device. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Magnavox TV remote broken - won't switch to watch DVD

There may be a manual reset button somewhere on the back of the set. If not, try unplugging it for 10 minutes and then plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, call Magnavox.

Instructional program for Magnavox won't turn off, and can't use the remote

I just did a search today because my kids have the same tv. I found out if you push the volume + and channel + at the same time for about 5 seconds, the tv shuts off and resets. It is in factory mode. Give it a try, if that doesn't work try volume - and channel - at the same time.
