Why did my HDMI quit woirking on my Sony bravia suddenly. It was working fine then just stopped wroking.

It sounds like your set needs servicing. Are the other inputs working? HDMI port failures are indicative of a problem with the main board.

I have a Sony Bravia model KDL-46s5100 that had the same problem. All HDMI ports stopped working. I don't know why this works but unplug the TV for about 30 sec, then plug it back in and hold down the power button on the tv for 10 seconds. Like I said I don't know why this works but it worked for me. Good luck.

Installing a new software update will this issue. All you need is a compatible USB flash drive. Go to support on Sony.com. Look up your tv model and if there is an update, just follow the instructions to install it yourself. I have a KDL-46S5100 and this worked great. HDMI connectors are very bad soldered inside the set,not easy to resolder for an amateur ( if you are an amateur offcourse )
Other option is the HDMI cable itself.

Yep, same problem with mine. After many trial fixes, I discovered that it's the HDMI connection. I tried two different new HDMI cables in two of HDMI ports on the TV, but still got intermittent sound. The only way I solved it was going to component cables (RGB) with a separate audio cable. Works great now. Other Web sites say that HDMI connections do not always electronically "handshake" well between devices. Not sure how this HDMI problem can be permanently fixed, but using the component connection works fine.
