Why is my Frigidaire dryer model #FER86600ES0 getting extremely hot on the top and back?

Good afternoon friend, thanks for the post!

I see from your post that your Frigidaire dryer is getting extremely hot on the top and back. Have you checked to make sure that it is getting proper ventilation? I would verify nothing is blocking your dryer from ventilating which could be causing the appliance to heat up. If it continues to heat up I would reach out to a technician to come diagnose and repair your dryer. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

GE dryer very hot on top--hasn't been used

Often times the element has broken (burned out) and is now touching the element housing causing it to heat up and stay on even though the dryer is not even running.

I just want to know how hot the clothes part getts in the maytag performance gas dryer does the regular mode reach 122 degrees

Dave, Dave here.
I would type Maytag into my box in the top of the computer screen and see if you can find the phone number of the Maytag factory service representative.
They might be able to tell you.
Another choice would be to put a thermometer ( like a candy thermometer) inside another dryer belonging to someone else and look at it when it is in the middle of a heat cycle. You would want to hang it inside somehow so it did not tumble and break.
Be blessed.

We have a gas dryer purchased in 1996, Model #CDG800W. The dryer has started to make a strange grinding sound when we're drying clothes. Any suggestions?

Most likely a bad blower wheel. Over time the hub gets hot, melts, wobbles out, and start to rub the blower housing. The wheel slips and makes it take a long time to dry the clothes. This causes the filter to warp and the top to get extremely hot.fdd151b.jpg513b315.jpga1f312f.jpg77fbb60.jpg

I have posted more repair photos here

Very noisy, getting extremely hot on top--will burn skin

If it is able to burn skin DO NOT use it!!! It can easily start a fire.
With the added noise symptom, i am guessing something broke loose and is either rubbing or conducting electricity. Either way, it should be opened up and serviced.

Dryer was running with full load of clothes. Heard a loud pop twice, ran back to the laundry room and smelled like something burning. Turned dryer off, and now it won't start back. Also, the very top of...

Well it sounds like a sound I have heard... forgetting that I had a cigarette lighter in my pocket and having it explode from the heat in the dryer. But you say you heard two loud pops?

Once everything cools down, check again and report back... does the dryer not turn on at all? Does the light come on when you open the door? Does it buzz when you push the start button? Stuff like that.

Not drying clothes

Check your yellow pages for an appliance repairman. If your unit is revolving but not getting hot, you need service.

Back & top of dryer get hot, clothes take long time to dry.

First thing to check for is blocked airflow. Check the dryer as well as the venting from the back of the dryer to the outside of the house good airflow is neccessary. You could remove the venting from the back of the dryer and run a load to see if that helps. Do not leave it off as it is exhausting lint and if a gas dryer spent fuel.

Very hot to touch on top

Sounds like you have a clogged vent hose or clogged duct work leading to the outside of the home. Make sure you have no obstructions in the exhaust system including a functioning flap on the outside wall cap.
