You have some problem with motherboard, search over internet.

think your wireless switch is off. find in you unit. it locate at f3 or edge of your laptop

First you tell me that How old your compaq laptop. I think First thing is unplug power and remove battery. Then hold power button for a minute or two. Then plug the laptop and try to power on. If it still doesn't power on, you might have a problem with the power pack, the plug or even worse with the mobo. In those cases you might want to test with another charger. If the mobo is dead think about getting a new laptop.

Get a can of compressed air and clean out all the vents and fans. You can also use a vacuum with a hose attachment to clean it.

try to remove the battery and plug the charger.

HP Compaq has several different models for the CQ42 notebook. If you are haveing issues with the webcamera my first suggestion is to re-install the driver and software for it. I have included the web link to HP Compaq support page. You have two options, 1) Is to input your product name or product number. The product number is the best way to get the correct software and drivers for you notebook. If you dont know your product number there are instruction on the support page that will show you how to find your product number  2) Have the support site automaticly detect it for you.

To disable the touchpad, do the following steps.

1. Click Start , type mouse in the search field, and select mouse from the listing.
2. In the Mouse Properties window, select the Device Settings tab.
3. Click the Disable to turn off, or disable the touchpad.
