SOURCE: electrolux 2100 canister vacuum. Motor

The bag full system is a simple one, based on air pressure: a spring keep a plunger in balance in a cylinder open at both ends - one end inside the vacuum chamber (where the fan of the motor is situated) , the other connected to the outside air. When the difference between the pressures is larger than the full force of the spring the plunger is sucked all the way to the bottom of cylinder where it triggers the warning switch. So placing the hand over the inlet will surely trigger it even in a new one. This system has no connection with the motor, no influence on it whatsoever.
You get this error because either the spring has aged and no longer opposes the correct resistance and the entire system will have to be replaced or there is a blockage on the air pathway - from the brush all the way to the fan. To find the blockage you will need to inspect the brush, hose, connector filters and the fan itself .
Extensive dismantling of the vacuum unit will be needed for that, if you don't know how to do it then you will have to take it to a repair shop.

Check bag lite is on and vacuum will not come om

Assuming you mean a genuine Aerus Electrolux canister vacuum, the "full bag" light comes on when the bag needs changed. If that doesn't work, the gauge on the top needs removed and serviced or replaced. Hope that helps! Thanks!

What do the symbols and dial settings mean on the electrolux diplomat lx

Symbols..Question mark means "Put a bag in me", checkered light means : "Change me, I'm dirty"....pre-lit power light means: "You have Powaaa" to the unit and the thermostat light means the motor is too hot if it comes on, (most likely from a hose clog) and needs to cool down before the motor will run again. The settings on the control valve basically have to do with the auto shutoff when the bag needs changed. The lower the valve is turned, the more full the bag will get until it shuts off. Hope that helps!

Aerus Lux 7000: the full bag light keeps coming on but the bag is not full.

Electrolux uses a pressure differential control valve. This valve measures air before and after the bag. There is a orfice or small hole where the hose connects to the vacuum cleaner, and a orice at the back of the bag canister. As the bag fills up the suction pressure reduces at the hose connection and increases at back of the bag canister. When this happens the control valve has a diaphram that closes, which shuts the vacuum off and gives you a full bag light. There is a thin plastic flange that prevents an o ring on the control valve stem from coming off. The flange breaks, the o rings comes off the stem and the vacuum will shut down indicatiing bag full. The after market price is about 22.00. The valve is easy to replace if you are familiar on electrolux vacuums. When I replace these valves, I use epoxy two part plastic putty on the flange of the valve. It takes 2 days to cure, but the flange will not break.

Electrolux 2100 vac dies when you attach hose even with new bag.

If the bag full light keeps coming on, you can first try adjusting the dial on top of the vacuum cleaner. If that does not work, then you need to change the control valve. This is an internal component of the canister and is directly below the dial. You will need to follow the instructions on a previous post to open the Electrolux plastic canister vacuum, and remove the bage cage. Once you remove the bage cage you can change the control valve, and this will solve your problem with the bag full indicator.

I have an older Electrolux canister vacuum - model #2100 and the temperature sensor shuts down the motor. How to I take apart and clean?

Check to be certain the thermo lite is on and not the bag full indicator. The thermo detector is very reliable, but the bag fill valve often fails. If it is the thermo, check your hose and wand for blockage by dropping a coin through them, before opening the vac itself.Otherwise you may have a bad set of motor bearings causing the motor to overheat due to its age.
The 2100 and all its canister cousins made since 1982 seem to be prone to failure of the dial valve on top cracking internally. The causes the bag full indicator to come on and the vac to shut down.
To open the vac you will need to slide the locking keys and bumpers forward with the bag door open. Do this with a set of pliers. Once done the vac will open from front to back like a **** shell. Be careful to look at the underside hinge are of the bag door before separating and mark and locate the wiring harness . This vac only goes back together one way, perfectly assembled it pops together with ease. If any piece is out of line it`s like a RUBIKS Cube. Take your time . OEM parts are only available through an AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair shop
