Carefully take it apart and clean it thoroughly. If you see any burnt wires, trying replacing those if you know how to replace one. As for the plastic gear on the power base, it can be easily replaced with any ordinary similar coupler of the same size, for example like the one KitchenAid supplies (Blending coupler 9704230). The only catch here is that you need to replace the coupler on the base of your choppers as well. This would be a better idea considering getting rid of the cheap plastic used in these blenders and the need for long-term use.
The parts that may require service after a very long tim would be the gear box which would require a clean out and refill with grease and the output shafts which can be wiped clean and given a touch if grease as well. The motor bearings could do with the same treatment and all this calls for a strip down of the mixer. However, if there is no perceptable play in the drives and no strange noises, the unit is possibly best left alone with just the minimum lubrication being applied as you intimate.
The manual indicates there is an auto-reseting thermal cutout that turns the motor off if overheated.
If there is an internal fuse that has blown, there LIKELY is other damage that needs to be addressed. A fuse will have markings on it for the value. An appliance repair part outlet should be able to supply parts for this unit.
I have had these apart. The leak is from a seal around the motor shaft. By the time it is leaking the shaft has pitted to the point a new seal will not repair it. Getting it apart can result in damaged parts as it is sealed together with very tight tolerances and a glue like sealer. Eric
I have an order of parts coming that I won on eBay, which I wanted for the DoughWorks, plus to replace my lid for the Vegetable Chef, as mine has a broken strap. I never had a manual, as I bought my processor second-hand over 25 years ago. I just figured out on my own how to use it. The box of parts I am getting has a manual, and I will be happy to scan it. Please send an email to [email protected] and put La Machine Manual in the subject line.
