Check all your fuses under the hood and in the instrument panel. Use a grounded test light and check your maxi fuses for power-the little slots on the tops of all fuses allow you to check if power is there. The maxi fuses should all be hot at all times, so check them with key off. But if any don't show power on either end of fuse, turn key to on and check again. If no power, look for blown fusible links supplying the distribution box, or wiring from the battery to the box. If any show power on only one end of the fuse, that is a blown fuse and needs replaced.
For the smaller fuses, a few are hot at all times, most are hot in run or start-so turn key to on and check all the fuses. With key on, all fuses on the car should show power to them. When checking, a blown fuse will only light the tester on one end of the fuse. A good fuse will light the tester on both ends of the fuse. You can check your fuses this way, without having to pull the fuse out to inspect.

Turn key to on. Do the gauges and warning lights on the dash light up? If yes, power is getting to the switch, and being sent out on the run wire, the ignition wire. If no power to dash, need to check for power to the ignition switch, but if all fuses are good, there should be power to the switch. For no fuel, no spark- could be a fuse for the engine computer. I hope it is nothing more serious.

it turns over checked all fuses They are all good just no spark no fuel

  • thad rose Apr 16, 2014

And I hear the fuel pump kick on

  • montehammons Apr 16, 2014

Is the check engine light on with key on? Is gas getting up to the engine then, with the pump working? Check if there is power to the injectors with key on. Check if there is power to the ignition coil with key on, the pink wire. The fuse for it is in the underhood fuse relay center, a 20 amp fuse. Also the coil primary wire is a pink wire-should have power with key on. You can find wiring diagrams for your (truck, suburban?) here, Look under technical information: http://www.bbbind.com/index.html

Check pink wire to ignition coil with key on-should have power. You checked fuses, but are they powered? The mega fuses are hot at all times-do all have power on them? If not you blew the fusible link. You can find wiring diagrams here for your '95. Look under technical information:http://www.bbbind.com/index.html.

I have power to the coil but not injectors ?

  • thad rose Apr 17, 2014

wait I do have power to the injectors

  • montehammons Apr 17, 2014

Heard of a "noid light"? An inexpensive little light that tests the injector circuit for proper pulsing. If you get one sized for your injector connector from a parts store, you can check if the pcm is pulsing the injectors. You stick it on the connector to an injector and then crank the engine over. If the noid light blinks, the circuit is good./// You have power to the injectors, now check if the pcm is grounding the injector circuit (internally in the computer) to pulse the injectors. By using the noid light. It has to blink. If it doesn't blink, the pcm may be suspect.

Bad DOG! Break out the checkbook, you may have blown the computer. Need to start there. Not sure if there is reverse polarity diode protection or not. Have it checked. Even at a scrap yard they won't be cheap.

have you checked all ofyour fuses? usually when you hook up a battery backwads you end up blowing a fuse and or fry your alternator on older modeled vehicles as there is no protection for it.

Could be fuel pump, is the pump running when you turn key on, you should be able to hear it. You are likely going to have to take it to someone with a pressure gauge to make sure it is getting proper fuel pressure. Fuel pumps commonly go on these vehicles

You still safe there is three area that are protected when this happens , the fuseable link opens up, in the fuse box the ignition fuse, in the batter juntion box a fusable link or omega fuse, and starter fuse, 1990 suburban look at the starter for the omega or fuseable link

95 gmc 3500 5.7 no start has fuel spark and compression

I would take a closer look at the fuel system and pressure - injectors are very sensitive to the correct needed values (too much or too little causes a lot of problems). I would also vertify the injectors are firing correctly - are you sure you have installed the correct ones?

Do you know how to test for spark , hook up a fuel pressure gauge . When it won't start you need to find out what is missing . It has to have spark and fuel for it to start. And seeing how you replaced the fuel pump and filter already i would no spark and the ignition control module as the problem . But not being able to test it that is just a guess . Have you always waited till morning to retrying to start the vehicle ? Have you tried to restart after an hour ?

My 95 gmc has no spark or fuel. when i connect the battery it acts like the key was just turned on even thou the key is out. it will turn over just fine just wont fire

I have a 1995 gmc k2500 also had the same problem. the solution is in the steering column, pull the lower cover and on the right side under the steering wheel is a connector with every wire for the truck one of them is loose, I just removed my lower cover and left it off I wiggle it if the truck wont start.

I hooked my battery up backwards now the ignition won't turn over when I turn the key. It also sounds like its not getting fuel

hooking up backwards basically fries everything first take the starter and get it tested you problly fried the solenoid but pray you didnt fried your igniton switch on the car and as for the fuel you most likley poped the fuse pray that it is the fuel beacuse a new fuel pump can cost ya a good amount

You need to hook a fuel pressure gauge to it. It has to have 55 psi or it won't run. Have you checked for spark at one of the plug wires. I'm guessing low fuel pressure, fuel pump.
