1. Press and hold the 'preset/clock/defrost' button. The clock will display, with the hours flashing.
2. Twiddle the dial to set the hour.
3. Press the button again. The minutes will now be flashing
4. Twiddle the dial to set the minutes.
5. Press the button again.
You can defrost items by time but not with the Q-Defrost or Auto-Defrost functions. (I've found it best to defrost ground beef with timed intervals at power 1. Auto Defrost by weight usually starts cooking the meat. You will need to try it a few times to see how long and what power to use.)

i cant work out if its broken or not over the years i do remember seeing a sanyo microwave that would not cook untill the time was set though have not seen another since (cause its a silly idea) but try setting the time and it might work
generally you push a button that says clock then enter the time you want displayed and press enter..Don't know if you have those buttons but you should be able to muddle through...
