Husqvarna 2754GLS, Hydrostatic forward/reverse pedal will not return to neutral position.

To return the pedal to neutral I have to push the reverse pedal when moving forward and forward when moving in reverse...I have the manual and it is not clear which spring(s) return the pedal to the neutral position.

Return spring item # 161 is for the clutch....My clutch works fine...When I depress the forward hydrostatic pedal the machine drives forward but the machine will not slow down or stop when I release this pedal....I must press the reverse pedal to slow down and stop...I am unable to figure out which spring returns the pedal to neutral....It may be on or in the hydrostaic teansmission but i can not find the info to confirm this and how it can be repaired.

Parts and Diagrams for Husqvarna 2754 GLS 96043004700 2008 01
I suggest following all the safety procedures suggested in the operators manual first!
ENGINE NOT RUNNING,wheels blocked to prevent being run over, check the return spring ref # 161

SOURCE: JD 855 the idle spring broke and th hydrostatic

Yes there is a safety switch. And this safety switch has to be engaged. If its not engaged then the JD tractor will not start. On JD 855 the safty switch is located under the seat, There is a rod that must be depressed before engage Somehow that rod is bent or its not pressing the switch to the point that the seat would not fully engage the safty switch. In some cases the switch itself is faulty. It has to be checked . Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

SOURCE: I HAVE HUSQVARNA 1548 RIDING MOWER HYDROSTATIC

You may have a drive belt that is worn or broken. Check the drive belt for slack condition see if it is not slipped off idler pully wheels or the belt tensioner. I had one that was streched out and was very slack on the pully wheels - I had it replaced with new one and was fine to go. There is a device on the back of your tractor to release the transaxle for manual pushing your tractor about with out starting the engine. Make sure the device is positioned correctly for running mode (engine) - There is a symbol on the back to help you know what to do. The tractor manual has good trouble shooting info and if you don't have one, try googling for it with the model number of your tractor - you will be able to download one free to your computer for viewing it.

Good luck!

SOURCE: when i put mower in

yes

there is a adjustment under the r/h rear gaurd just under where the lever goes to hydro unit you should see a slot and a adjustment bolt arrangement

make sure you put the tractor in true nuetral 1st then undo the bolt that clamps lever to shift arm / shaft ( this connects to plate that operates swash plate on the pump ) and move the lever either fwd or back until (without moving transmission from true nuetral ) it fits into the nuetral slot correctly and tighten the adjustment bolt - test and adjust as nescesary

You didn't specify a brand or type but it sounds like a hydrostatic drive model and if so, it is 1 of 4 likely things

Drive belt from engine to transaxle slipping badly (replace the belt)
FWD-REV pedal linkage faulty
Transaxle is broken or has fluid issues (not user fixable)
by-pass rod (neutral lever/rod) is pulled out a bit. (push it in fully!)

Wont move forward or reverse-- transmission??

Does it have gears or a hydrostatic (automatic) transmission?

If it's a gear model, sounds like a loose drive belt.

If it's hydrostatic, it could be a belt problem or a problem inside the transmission. If it's a tranmission problem, this is not good. Many of the transmissions on riding lawn mowers are not serviceable - they are just replaced.
