My S2950, when I press the Playback button it switches off the camera

Press the Playback button (the right-pointing triangle, just to the right of the MENU button) to enter the Playback mode then press the MENU button to bring up the Playback menu. Copy is the seventh item on this menu.

o do this:
Press the power switch. (Capture mode)
Press the Play button. (Playback mode)
Press the four-way controller (down). (Playback mode palette)
Press the four-way controller (right) 3 times to select [Image/Sound Copy].
Press the OK button to display the screen for selecting the copy destination.
Press the OK button to copy the data.
Press the Play button or press the shutter release button down halfway to return to Capture mode.

Hello. To set up your date & time on a Fujifilm S2950, you have to follow these steps:

First of all, press the selector left or right to highlight the year, month, day, hour, or minute and press up or down to change. To change the order in which the year, month, and day are displayed, highlight
the date format and press the selector up or down.

Press MENU/OK. A battery type message will be displayed. If the type is different from the type inserted in the camera, use the setup menu (BATTERY TYPE) option to specify the correct type.

Press the PLAYBACK button that is located above the Display at the right side and left to the Zoom buttons.

Once you press the PLAYBACK button, the Camera goes in to the Playback mode. Now you can use left and right arrow buttons to view the images.

To playback the movies it is required to press the center button.

Press the power button. Set the mode switch to playback (the right-pointing triangle). Hold down the FUNC/SET button and press the MENU button. Use the arrows to select a language. Press the FUNC/SET button.

On the contemporary S602, it's hidden in the playback menu.  Switch on to playback, press the ok/menu button, scroll up to 'FORMAT' and press ok/menu to do the deed; when done, press the 'back' button and switch off.

Failing that, just work your way through all the different menu options until you find a 'format' or 'initialize' option.

Can you get any signs of life? playback pictures etc? Try pressing the playback button instead of the power button. If camera display works then press the picture button and see if the camera will switch over and the lens extends. Also check if the tab on the battery door is not broken. This operates a micro switch to cut off power
