I'm not sure as to which OS you're using, but for Windows 7, follow these instructions...

1) Open Control Pannel
2) In the search bar in the upper right hand corner type "Connect to a projector" (Without the quotations)
3) Select the option Connect to a projector
4) A selection box will appear. Select the option that you want.

picture diagram is included below. :-)

Just connect the second monitor and power up. Windows will recognize it and you're set.
Hope this is the info you need.

How to add a 2nd monitor

Most laptops have a VGA port so an external monitor can be added. Then you might have to press a Fn key combination to get the other monitor to display.
If you want to add a second monitor to a Desktop computer, you'll need to install another graphics card. A USB adapter card is available; do a search for different models available.

If neither of these answer your question, please explain exactly what you need a monitor to display from; you posted to the Network and Wireless Adapters section, which is confusing..

I have a dell laptop that I want to add a second monitor to. My monitor is a HP L1755 and my laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate on it. I can not find a driver for this... any suggestions?

Hi there, if i read you correctly you are trying to connect external monitor on laptop. As you use old Monitor for this you can probably establish only VGA connection . For this you dont need any special drivers if you use VGA external connector on laptop. You just need to find out right combination on keyboard to activate external monitor to be activated or right click on desktop then properties and display option multiple displays. Of course when you manage to activate mode for external screen please use lower resolution like 1027*768 for second display aka monitor to test .Cheers

I cannot hear any sound from my Dell monitor 1702FP. Are there speakers installed within the monitor?. VGA cable is connected. When I use a spare monitor using the VGA cable the sound is loud and clear. ...

The Dell 1702FP doesn't have speakers. The specs of the Dell 1702FP are available here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/1702fp/en/specs.htm . (BTW neither does the Dell 1704FPT.) However, some Dell monitors can have a sound bar (speaker set-up) mounted on the monitor.

VGA cables don't carry sound. Check if a second cable (an audio patch cable is connected to the computer and the second monitor). (There are some cables that actually bundle the 3.5 mm patch cable with the video cable for convenience. (I've seen a number of DVI cables with that bundle option.) The plugs will separate into separate units at each end.

Other monitors do have speakers built in - look for a 3.5 mm audio input jack with the rest of the input connections on your monitor. There are some monitors that accept an HDMI input with a 3.5 mm audio out jack; these monitors don't have speakers and thus are enabling a daisy chain to connect the speakers to the monitor. So you do need to be careful and look for the audio in label.

You can attach a set of speakers to your computer using the audio out (look for a lime green 3.5 mm jack on the back of a desktop). For laptops or to use the front audio ports, look for a headphone jack.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your monitor and computer for additional assistance.

My dell gx260 ligth come green if i turn it on but for a few mins time it turn orange why

Do you mean the monitor's power light starts green and then turns orange when you turn it on? Most monitors will go to a power saving mode when they do not get a signal from the computer.

The Dell GX260 has a green power light when on. When the computer is off, the light is off. If it is green and blinking, then the computer is in a power saving mode.

Diagnosis: start with the obvious: is the monitor cable plugged into both the computer and the monitor (if not permanently connected to the monitor)? Are you connected to the active port? (You can add a video graphics card in most desktops. The motherboard video port usually needs to be disabled to use the card ports. If you plug in the monitor cable to the disabled port, it won't work.) Is the monitor set to the correct input? (This applies if the monitor has several ports. In that case, there will be a Source or Input button on the monitor.) Is the computer on? The GX260 has the power button on the front. (Other computers have the power button on the top.) There is also the power supply switch on the back which needs to be on.

Next try a different data cable between the monitor and the computer (if you can). Try a different monitor. If a second monitor works, than the monitor has a damaged main board. If the second monitor doesn't work, then the video graphics adapter has probably failed. Replace the add-on card, if in use, then boot in the safe mode to remove the old graphics driver. Then install the correct driver for the graphics adapter.

Note: the computer and the monitor should both be off when you connect the cables. Then turn on the monitor first and set it to the correct source before turning on the computer.)

I hope this helps.

Your laptop's video circuit is integrated into the system board (motherboard). There is no VGA card. Try using a different VGA cable, if no go, then your motherboard has a problem.

If you have another monitor for desktop hook other monitor up then under hardware and software in control panel, add the dell monitor, then hook it up. Some operating systems need the driver to be added first. My brother almost threw away agood dell lcd monitor before I told him this, now he loves the lcd, works great.
