Hi Lora, this is AP!

Based on the description of the Frigidaire electric range provided it appears the door lock feature has been activated. In order to cancel the Oven Lockout feature, press clear off and hold for 3 seconds. The control will unlock the oven door and resume normal operation.

This door lock feature is activated by pressing clear off and holding for 3 seconds. "Loc" will appear in the display, the "Door Locked" indicator light will flash and the motor driven door lock will begin to close automatically. Allow about 15 seconds for the oven door to lock. Once the oven door is locked, the current time of day will appear in the display. If any control pad is pressed with the oven lockout feature active, "Loc" will appear in the display until the control pad is released.

The oven gets extremely hot during the self-cleaning mode... the door switch might have got stuck in locked position, or broken in locked position (to be replaced), let's hope it's just stuck...which you'll need to work the mechanical lock-unlock latching back and forth to hopefully unstick....and if that doesn't work just re-run self-cleaning process but this time let the oven cool completely before unlocking the door. An error code DR commonly refers to a door lock malfunction. I understand you have reprogrammed the range by unplugging it. It is important to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn your range back on. Typically, this will clear most false error codes. If the error code continues to display, your range could possibly have a faulty door latch, light switch or EOC (electronic oven control). I am fairly confident that an authorized service agent will be able to restore your appliance to its normal operating condition. You can often locate a qualified service technician on the manufacturer website.

When trying the clean mode on the oven, it locked up, did not clean, and is not stuck in lock mode. How do I reset it? Turning off curcuit breaker did not help.
Hi Jim, thank you for your post! Once you have the flipped the circuit breaker it is important to wait roughly ten to fifteen minutes. If resetting the power does not correct the issue, you range could be experiencing a communication error with the EOC (electronic oven control), faulty door lock assembly, or could have wiring failure. In that case, a certified technician would generally replace the faulty part after proper diagnosis.

Here is a list of oven error codes for your model Kenmore oven.
  1. F0 indicates a Stuck key pad.
  2. F1 and F7 may mean relay is turned on.
  3. F2 indicates that the oven is over temperature in one of the following modes within either cooking or cleaning mode of operation. The control is sensing over 615 degrees with the door lock circuit in the unlock mode. Control senses oven temperature above 915 degrees with the door in the locked mode.
  4. F3 and F4 indicates an open or shorted oven sensor or sensor circuit.
  5. F5 indicates a loss of relay drive circuit.
  6. FF indicates a loss of door motor safety switch.
  7. FC indicates a door lock circuit problem.
If the display of your control is flashing "F" followed by a number or letter its a range malfunction. Press the clear/off pad. Let the range cool for 1 hour and place the range back into operation.
If the problem repeats, call for service.

Yes this could be the problem. If you can't set the timer to manual mode the oven will not work. Turn the oven to on so that when power goes to it you will see the oven indicator light come on. Play with the timer buttons until the oven indicator light comes on. If it won't work you probably need a new timer.

Readout is stuck on 5Ab. Can't do anything with it
Hi.

I am publishing this tip because of the many users asking me about the code 5AB on Amana, Maytag and other ovens.

Error 5AB in fact does not exist , and what you see written on display isnot 5AB.

The beeping sound is a warning because the oven is in lock condition. The oven is not faulty, and the code is not 5AB, but SAB.

SAB means that the oven is in Sabbath mode, and the control board will be locked for 72 hours with SAB on display.

If power is disconnected a new 72 hours cycle will start.

Depending on the model, there may also be a beeping sound when you try to operate the oven.

Push and hold the Clock button for about 10 seconds, until the display clears, that will reset SAB mode.

If that does not work leave the oven connected and off for 72 hours. If the oven does not unlock after three days, then the electronic control may be stuck in SAB mode because it is faulty, in that case contact the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual.

Lock won't disengage
Try putting it into CLEAN MODE and wait about 3 minutes.... then cancel the clean mode. Sometimes this will release the relay if its stuck.
If that doesn't work, you have a problem with the latch relay and you need service on the unit. You can try and remove the latch assembly yourself, but it can be tricky, and you may create more problems than you fix.

Oven door open
Turn the operating mode dial to self-clean, then manually hold in for about 20 seconds the light pin on the oven rim. The lock will eventually open after 20 or so seconds. Turn off the operating dial and the door will close.
