You have to clear your CMOS to remove the bios password.

  1. Power down the computer, disconnect the external power supply from the computer.

  2. Press the power button for at least 5 seconds to drain remaining power.

  3. Remove the PSWD jumper. For more information and diagrams to show the location of these jumper plugs and pins on the motherboard, refer to the Manuals.

  4. Use the PSWD jumper, and put it on the RTCRST jumper for 5 seconds.

  5. Put the jumper back onto the PSWD pins.

  6. Plug the power cable into the computer.

  7. Turn on the computer.

I have tried the same but it's not working. I have disconnected the power cable, drained the power as well.. and then put off the PWRD jumper and put it on RTCRST for 5 seconds and then put that back on PSWD jumper .. and then power up the system but still its asking for the password. Any other possible solution please

Sony vaio mod PCG370 need bios password clrd

WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. Be sure to set a password that will be easy for you to remember, because by setting a BIOS password you are limiting access to the computer only to users who know that password. If the BIOS password is ever forgotten you will not be able to access the computer and it may be necessary to perform a system recovery in order to regain access. This is from their support site.

If you have recovery CD do a recovery if not purchase one. Do a complete restore and recovery often times you can pull the back off where the CMOS battery is located and pull the battery out for about 25 seconds and it may reset it to default for you to access your Windows Operating System again.

There is also software that you can download that will clear the BIOS as well. On laptops, the password is usually stored in an eeprom on the motherboard, you need an eeprom programmer (electronic device) to retrieve it. Also a great resource for free password removal for laptops is Click Here I hope that this assisted you in your issue with BIOS password access. This is why unless you are really needing to block the BIOS I never set passwords period I also recommend people do not set a password there really is no reason to. Unless you know that someone is going to access this and change anything most folks do not even know how to get there. If you do need a password set make sure that you will remember it I think you have figured that out by now. Thanks for using FixYa! John

How do I program my latitued lap top so it gors directly ine to the windows sart up , instead of having to enter a pass code to go thru the bios program. Once I eneter the bios pasword it will activate...

It seems that the Dell is not publishing the BIOS reset info online. You can try following the below steps once. ( Article ID: 184659)

During the initial boot of a computer the BIOS supplier will be displayed. If OEM logo splash screen is displayed, press ESC key to see the boot up information. Press the Pause/Break key if text displays too fast.

In the BIOS window, select Security tab and delete the BIOS password.

Need to reset my bios password on toshiba satellite a135-s2286

Hi,

you need to upen up your toshiba, and disconnect the internal battery, not the big one. Or, maybe a simpler method - call toshiba to check if there is a master password from them... :-)

Don't reset password BIOS HP DC7100

If you cannot access the machine after if has been powered up, it is still possible to get past the BIOS password. The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard.

Open the CPU casing locate the CMOS battery in motherboard and remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.

On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper.

This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.

If all else fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (Integrated Circuit) on your motherboard.
Many RTC's require an external battery. If your RTC is one of this type, you can clear the BIOS password just by unsocketing the RTC and reseating it. Good luck!

Bios default password

The BIOS default password is just blank, and it is not asked.

When you set a bios password, you are asked to enter a value, therefore if bios is asking the password, the password had been changed.

To reset the bios password if you do not know the password you need to access to motherboard and temporarily remove battery for few seconds.
Removing battery will reset bios and delete the password.
Unplug power cord before accessing the motherboard, and try not touching the motherboard with your finger.
Put battery back in place before restarting computer.
