Intermittent Dimm failure constantly processing or blank screen

This is an HP P3005n and when printing it is contantly processing but not printing. When power cycled it either results in a dimm failure or a blank screen. Unless left off for around 5 minutes when it starts normally prints a couple of pages and then we are back to square one. The printer is networked and on DHCP but there are 4 other printers in the area all working fine. I figure that the dimm may actually be failing but is this a red herring?

Mem test failure replace dimm 1

As the message says, DIMM 1 failed.
It's pretty straight forward fix for a tech.
So the cost should be minimal for the labor and whatever the
replacement DIMM costs.

Mem Test Failure Replace Dimm

The biggest problem with the P3005 is the main board. There has been a warranty extension on the P3005 if it is the main board.

it maybe a memory problem too, but unless you added memory, its usually part of the main board.

What is meant by a memory failure Replace dimm 0

There is a memory stick in a socket on the formatter board in the right side of the machine. If you pull the right rear cover to the rear it will come off revealing a metal cover you open by the tab. Once open it shows the formatter board. Inside is a laptop sized memory stick,or DIMM. With power off you spread the tabs to release it then pull the memory out, same as in a laptop. You likely have 96mb RAM - most come with a 64mb memory on the formatter (non removable) and a 32mb option. On the P3005N and P3005DN the memory is required to make the embedded (builtin) network card function, otherwise you can run it fine without the bad DIMM if you use USB. If you want to replace you need a 200 pin DDR2 DIMM in either 32mb, 64mb, 128mb or 256mb value. Last I bought was on ebay for $20 for a 128mb brand new. HP wants like $220 for the same.

Using hp laserjet p3005n, when I print one page it sends blank pg

Annoying but easy to solve.
Go to the printer's ip address management page from a web browser. Look under the TCP/IP address settings. Click on the advanced selection. Disable the LPD Banner page. That should fix it, if it's not under advanced poke around until you find LPD Banner Page. ;)

Problem prompt on DIMM error

Hi,
If the printer freezes or crashes at memory count or if the printer shows error Mem test failure replace DIMM or if the printer display is completely blank in that case obviuosly you can try reseating Mmeory Module.
However that doesn't fix the problem formatter board is faulty.
Need to get Formatter replaced.
