You will need to replace the battery. Laptop batteries lasts approximately 3yrs. This can be significantly reduced if the laptop remains plugged in most of the time.

the #1 cause of bad troubleshooting is Assumptions/. like my battery is good, you'd need a same PC known good to know that and test the battery there.to prove that. Batteries are the #1 failure mode of all PCs made. period. so.... even 1 year old !!! abused. no battery lasts 8 years, ok
ECON110 , no tools , no meters, no spare parts to do tests. (am i right) 1: runs on AC ok battery out buy a new battery for $15
2: runs on battery only but not on AC only buy a $15 AC power pack. (a dmm meter used now will prove its bad, (we test at the mobo jack live)
3: runs on AC but the new battery will not charge, buy new mother board, the charging chip on board is toast $300
sounds like a power supply board problem. Be careful. I would up plug it from the wall socket.. the sound u hear MIGHT be something on the circuit board heating up and about to POP. The power supply boards are not hard to replace. just make sure it is unplugged and be careful they can carry a charge even unplugged. Caps etc can Zap u.. as I tell every one , take picture of the insides of TV and the power supply board and a close up of all the numbers that is on the power supply. order the exact same part.. do not remove the bad board till u have the new one ready to go in.. good idea is use a grounding strap. the only cost a couple dollars or so.
Check the cooling fan at the bottem of the laptop see if is working ,also use a can of compressed air and blow out the fan give it a thorough cleaning if need you might have to replace the fan .If you will supply me with a model number I will get instructions on how to disassemble to put in a new fan
Was there something to do with PUK that ur daughter didnt tell you cause if she tried to guess it(how old is she?)after 10 tries the phone freezes, will be blocked and wont work.if your having trouble go onto ur providers website that helped me and started my phone up again.try charging it for a while(if you havent already)if it still ownt work go to where you bought it from and either damand for a refund or to fix it.
