Is the camera turned on; okay simple question but sometimes that is all that is needed. Look in the battery compartment is it clean, does it have battery corrosion? Sometimes the wires in the battery compartment become corroded thus not making a connection. If so a CLA will be needed.

SOURCE: Minolta Maxxum 5000

I had the same problem with a maxxum 7000. Traced it to a bit of corrosion in the battery pack. It let just enough power through to run the computer, but upon releasing the shutter, it shut off.

You might check that. corrosion can be cleaned with vinegar.

SOURCE: wind film?

Behind the LCD screen on the back of the camera, is a a gray button marked "R", and a gray slide switch to the immediate left of that.

Press and hold the R button, while sliding the switch to the left, this can be easily done with one thumb. the display will blink 0 and the motor will stop when rewinding is complete.

When I wind on the film and press the button nothing happens

Many 35mm cameras will not work without batteries. Also clean the battery cap in case your batteries leaked.

Hello, I have not been using my Pentax zX5n for a while. Recently I decided to use it again and was surprised to discover that after loading a new batteries that it would not start. Actually after loading...

Have the old batteries leaked in the battery compartment ? Also, when you removed the previous film, did you set the camera into rewind mode ? If not, you have probably damaged the winding motor beyond economical repair.

Can't get my camera to advance the film. I put new batteries in but still nothing Is there a particular type of battery I should be using for it??

Hi Susanabbott2, As long as you are using AAA batteries, unless you have the holder for AA batteries it should advance the film. Things to look at: With the batteries in camera turned on do you see the red display in the view finder, if not there is an electrical issue, if you do see it do the following. Open the camera back make sure the leader is pulled to the red marker on the lower right. On the camera back door is there the chrome springy thingy with the little roller? If not then as you close the camera back there is nothing to place tension on the film so that the sprockets can grab the film.

Screen is black and film won't load

If it's a 35mm film camera and you see nothing through the viewfinder, then as long as the lens cap has been removed, your camera has a locked up mirror.

You don't give any clues which exact model you have, but if it's one of the later electronic autofocus models with automatic film advance then the additional detail that the film isn't loading confirms that your camera simply has no power. Replace the batteries and all should be well.

If your camera does not have automatic film advance then you still almost certainly have flat batteries and just need to learn how to correctly load and wind the film.

Film Advance won't work on Minolta X-700

changing the batteries have no effect on film transport, just a coincidence. take the bottom cover off and check the white plastic gear on the film take up side of the camera. if it is broken your X700 may not be repairable as no new parts are available.
push the re-wind button in and try to charge the shutter again. remove film first. if it still just goes part way then a gear is stripped. try to find a camera repair shop that may have good used parts available.

N75 will not load film

Quick solution: force a manual rewind.
1. Remove film
2. Close camera back.
3. With the power turned on, press the two rewind buttons together. They are marked in red.
4. The camera will make a rewind sound and will stop after about 2 seconds.
5. DO NOT fire the shutter yet.
6. Put the mode on Manual and select a fast shutter speed like 1/90 sec. Any aperture will do.
7. Load the film correctly as given in the user's manual.
8. As you close the camera back, the film will prewind to the end of roll. At the end of the roll pre-wind the LCD will show you the total number of frames available.
9. Select any shooting mode.
10. Go on and take pictures.

Hope this helps
