Transfering data from damaged motherboard - Inspiron Dell Computers & Internet

USB devices are backwards compatible. It will connect at USB 2.0 speeds instead of 3.0. If your not planning on transferring huge amounts of data or transferring data constantly it probably won't make a big difference.

Extract the Hdd out of your old computer . Place it in a external usb box and connect the box to your new pc . You will be able to access and transfer your data .
The issue about your old computer is another matter an could have several reasons , such as power supply , damaged Hdd , defective memory , damaged motherboard ...etc ...

hi SATA in my opinion is better, one for air circulation also speed, and the modern motherboards can have from 2 to 6+ SATA ports, which is better than just having 2 ports for 4 items, so i would go for a SATA any day...hope that helps

Yes it is possible to transfer all your data and information to your new desktop computer. Just get the hard disk drive out from your old computer and then plug it to your computer.

And with the motherboard dock you mention, a system casing is probably the best to dock your motherboard.

The motherboard has two SATA connectors but they only go up to a 150 MB/s data transfer rate.

Your Seagate however, is engineered for 300 MB/s data transfer.

Download the Seagate manual for this drive and you will see the diagram on the last page that shows how to place a jumper on the drive to make it work at 150 MB/s.

I know what is problem,some of mother is made only SATA HDD data transfer rate 1.5 GB per second.Now all are SATA HDD data read rate 3 up to g GB per second .Follow the instruction label on the hard drive.
If you use your Motherboard 3GB data read hard drive you can customise setting jumper source of data rate 1.5 then MSI Motherboard detect SATA hard drive.

I can guarantee 100% you have a bad motherboard. I have seen this exact problem with hundreds of E-machine PC's (especially your particular model).

What happend is the power supply went bad and took the motherboard with it, e-machines use very cheap OEM powersupplys that do not have any fault protection to protect the motherboard from damage if the power supply gets a surge or other damage.

You should not waste your money repairing the hardware in this PC, i would buy a new PC and transfer the data over.

data is not loss but you have to give the disk to data back up professional

Your board came out around June-2005 so improvements are here. I'm not saying its all about the CPU & FSB but it may help.
