open up the cam software as normal, then turn your camera to face the back of your notebook, turn it back again and keep clicking the camera start button and eventually it will come on

Acer has a web site where you can download software for your Aspire 5580. Your Laptop has a intergrated sound chip, XP may not have installed the driver for your speaker/sound system. You can try downloading at the link below (page 2)," Audio driver v.5.10.0.5273", or you can install your audio driver from the restore CD that came with the notebook. No restore CD's! This site has everything installed onto your notebook.
