First check your power cord. if not it is mostly the micro usb/pwr port has broken free of the main board. If you can solder well there are videos on youtube you can watch but its a tough and tiny job.
We repair the problem all the time for 69.99 with return shipping.

How do i download e books on kindle

Hello Doris, either your Kindle battery needs recharging or worst case; it is not rechargeable anymore. How old is it? I'd contact Amazon right away, they may have a 'fix'. Good luck.

How do I see if the recharger cord is working? Kindle fire did not recharge overnight.

Three possibilities. 1. Battery is defective. 2. Charger is faulty. 3. Tablet's 5V socket is broken or loose.

Recharging kindle through laptop

You can charge it by using the cable that came with your Kindle (or another micro-USB to USB cable). Just plug the small connector into the bottom of your Kindle and the larger end into a USB port on your laptop while your laptop is on.

My kindle shows that the battery is empty and it won't recharge by plugging it in.

Try to power up your Kindle with a different battery. If that fails, you need a new logic board. Amazon should give you a replacement. If you're out of warranty, you can get the part at Kindle Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to open a kindle and install parts at Kindle Repair Guide.
