It sounds as if the freezer coils and vent stack are frozen solid. This usually requires removing the back panel in the freezer compartment and defrosting carefully with a hair dryer. (If this becomes frozen it blocks off the fan/vent that feeds cold air down to the fresh food compartment) Make sure to unplug unit before servicing as you will need to unplug the fan to remove the back panel. While doing this check the defrost termination thermostat (a small device attached to the tube with two wires coming out of it). The black plastic ones sometimes come apart and fail. Once defrosted put everything back together and test. Hope this helps.
If the fridge side is frozen you have a door seal issue. If the freezer side is frozen you have a defrost component issue. Your post was not clear as to which side is frozen.
This sounds like a classic defrost problem. Inside the fresh food compartment you will find an Control Board. The the number one thing other than you unpluging the refrigerator is look behind the freezer back panel to see if the evaporator coils are frozen up. If so defrost with a hair dryer and let me know if the Control board has burn marks on either side. Click on link below and place your model ED5FHEXST00 into the model and parts feature. It takes you to pictures of your refrigerator. On the left of your screen click on photo #11 That will show you the area of the control board. In picture listed as #6 The part number for board is W10135900 Let me know what you find before you make any choices. There could be something different that we need to look for, Thanks, Sea Breeze [email protected]
one of the hardest things to diagnous is food defrosting in the freezer. i found out the hard way about 35 years ago, but not until i banged my head against the wall a few times. the problem was the customer didn't have enough food in the freezer as she was a weekender.frozen food needs frozen food to keep the food frozen confused? so was i . every time your refrigerator goes into defrost( usually every 8 hours) a heating coil comes on in the back of the freezer. if the freezer is not full enough this heater can raise the temperature in the freezer to 40 degrees which will soften the food and melt the ice considering the time it takesto refreeze the food. i never forgot that service in fact i can see it in my head right now.. try this cure first let me know
LG's bottom mounts have had problems with air leaks in freezer making a iceball right under the evaperator fan actually coming close enough to the fan blades to slow them down or stop them all together also causeing the FFerror meaning the control board is not detecting the normal RPM's you should to keep it cool enough. Suggestion take the back panel off and remove any ice carefully if this be the problem. Make sure all doors are closeing tightly and gaskets make a air tight close.
What is the temp in the freezer, sounds like temp is to low..no water should be coming out of freezer, sounds like may be defrosting
Need to check the temp to make sure its cold enough.. thats what that alarm is for
Sounds like a pc board problem. I have come across many units like these (although I don't know the Samsungs!) which have similar symptoms...it would seem like the freezer gets stuck in "defrost" mode and the ice would melt etc.etc....
In most cases replacing the electronics module solved the problem...in hindsight I have figured out that it was moisture on the pc board components that were to blame!
So as a first resort I would locate the main electronics board and use a hairdryer to dry out thouroughly (even if it seems dry!)
Also check values for temperature sensors....don't know what the specific values for the Samsung NTC's are, but normally they are in the low kOhm's....
