Driver's seat unable to move forward or backward

One side of driver's car seat moves, however, right side seems stuck. The Infiniti G35 car seat motor seems to work on left side but right side is stuck, can't go back or forward.

I did check the inside track of the driver's seat and I found some coins which I vacuumed. However, when pushing the forward/back control I need to push the chair on the right side to engage the movement on that side. Also, it seems to move slower than the left side and if you move it all the way back or forward it tends to get stuck again, requiring a physical push to engage the motor on that side.

Pingman, 2004 G35 drivers seat does not move. Another post said it could be a relay in the white plastic housing under the seat. What do you think? I lightly tapped the motor and the seat now works with a clicking, which concerns me. The motor assembly doesn't look to complicated to remove. Three screws in the front, disconnect for power, and slide it off the gears. Let me know if this is a relay problem or an impending motor failure.

It almost sounds like where  the rod connects the motor to that side of the frame is loose. If you can I would raise it up as high as it will go and look under there with flashlight and see if the bolt is loose, and also check the connector and make sure it is nice and tight. That is not a common issue so without being able to physically look at it, it will be hard to pinpoint.

First thing, check the inside of the track and make sure there is not anything lodged down in there. But if there was it still should move in one direction and not the other. Infiniti seats more than one motor, but only one controls the forward/back motion.

When you located the gear, did you find a replacement for just the gear or did you have to replace the entire motor?

Here is the fix! 1st. check your part for size and how many teeth. It is a power seat track rail gear. you can get 2 for 49.-60 bux @ ebay or amazon.I have a 2006 g35 coupe & the drivers seat right side motor was clicking and then only the left side would move. the right side gear attached to the track gear is the problem.it\'s a worm gear and plastic and now stripped.dont know how or why but alot of folks seem to have thew problem. it is 3 screws on the very front right track that removes the motor assembly and then in plain view is the gear 1 screw removes it put some grease on it and do not sit in the seat!!! put your 3 screws back on and now the tricky part( on the right side of the track is 2 bolts that raise and lower to meat and marry the motor to the track like a harmonic balancer),,,Important that the two are perfectly met !!! si check the level and make sure that the 2 bolts are tight and when you connect the motor back with the 3 screws fitting the motor over the gear should be a smooth connection before you tighten down bolts or screws.make sure the track is not too high,or too low .if it feels ok tighten both and (DO NOT SIT IN THE SEAT)!!! TRY IT THE SOUND SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY CLICKING AT ALL SO BE VERY CAREFUL.but i think that is how it got striiped is the 2 bolts get a little loose and makes it wobble inside the motor box and eventually stripps the gear! check the left side gear too before you order. you can buy 1 part or two range $36 U.S for 1. or up to $61 for two.on ebay. it seems to fit alot of nissan models, infinti I have a g35 2006 model.good luck. its not that hard to do but if your concerned get 2 gears ,,,JUST IN CASE.lol . ok, my name is chris ,from carrollton texas. spot on this is my fix. cheers! 3http://www.ebay.com/itm/Infiniti-FX45-G35-M35-M37-I35-Nissan-350Z-370Z-Seat-track-Rail-Gear-G004-Pair/121058807145?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D163%26meid%3D3966768504790963702%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1088%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D111004452576%26

There are plastic gears connecting the track to the seat assembly. Whne one of these strip the seat will only work or move to one side. Infiniti does not sell a simple fix. You are looking at buying an entire seat assembly complete with the module for all the electronics. It will be at a cost of around $950 - $1000. Once that is in, Infiniti must program the seat to the brain of the car, only then can you reset your memory settings.

I have the same problem. I removed the motor assembly that powers the seat fore/aft and found a stripped plastic gear on the right-hand side of the driver-side seat track. It looks kinda like a speedometer gear. I was able to remove it, and hopefully Infiniti sells just the little gear.

I had the same problem on my '01 Infiniti I30t. The drivers seat would not move forward or backward but the other positions moved fine. After researching various sites and getting a quote of $1400.00 to replace the entire seat track assembly, I found an amazingly simple repair for this problem. Once you locate the motor that controls that particular movement, gently tap it with a hammer and try the seat controls. As ridiculous as this sounds it worked for me as well as others and it wont cost you a dime to try it. I could not believe it myself. FYI on my I30 the motor is located under the front-left part of the seat. I hope this solution is helpful to others.

The back of the seat of my 2003 G35 moves forward but not backwards. All the other buttons work...I'm able to raise/lower, tilt and move the entire seat back and forth. Any suggestions?

this is not uncommon and the test is very simple. The seat motor often fails in this vehicle and the simplest test is this: (1)raise the front of the seat as much as possible, (2)tap on the motor housing while holding the seat slide button (seat motor you need is the one easiest to reach in the front/bottom of the seat). If this resolves your problem what you need is a seat motor. Unfortunately these are often only available with a complete seat base system, so if this is the resolution you may want to search salvage yards, this piece can be easily replaced by itself.

One side of driver seat does not move smoothly or at all.

Unfortunately you need a new seat track assembly. I'm an infiniti tech and have replaced MANY of these tracks.

Driver seat goes backwards, up and down but it won't go forward.

it could be the electrical switch that controls the motor, that is if there are two switches to the seat button which controls the motor.

The drivers seat is stuck. It won't move forward or backward but all other seat functions work fine.

This is a seat slide motor assembly problem. I worked for an Infiniti dealer for many years as a service advisor, and this was a common issue on these vehicles. Most of the time you can take the **** end of a screwdriver and tap on the motor from the front of the seat and it should start working. It may work for a while but it will most certainly stop, how soon depends on how far gone it is. Eventually it will quit working altogether and tapping it won't work either. As a service advisor we probably replaced a hundred of those things. Last I knew the part was about 280.00 and about an hour labor. I would not take it to someone who doesn't really know Infiniti though as you may get the car back with an air bag light flashing or something. Dealers really don't try to rip people off, they generally want to do the right thing as they want you to come back for all your problems, keep that in mind.
