I have a Vizio P42 inch flat screen tv with a vertical black line on the screen 30 seconds after i turn the tv on and stays on , the size of the strip is 1 in by 10 inches vertical. I' ve trouble shot the strip by disconnecting the satalite receiver from the tv and seperatly connected a antenna and the black strip still appears , I heard that it might be a soft solder joint, if you could help me out their on why that black strip appears , and how to make it disappear that would be GREAT hope to hear from you soon thankyou bob.
Your set has either a bad driver board or more likely a bad plasma panel.

I have a Sony 42" plasma monitor. The problem with the monitor is that it has a approx. 2" black (no video) vertical strip on the screen. It was intermittent at first but now it is permanent. Except for strip, the monitor runs ok.
