proper focus in any camera will see colors ..or else record in b& w and in bad focus... make sure your macro mode is off and norm-auto on... most focus problems are due to dropping or stuck lenses.
night mode might mean your day sense has gone bad... the white balance etc.look for a default setting and turn it on.
If the focus is blurred on the view finder, assuming you are talking about the eye piece and not the lcd, then it is a out of focus issue. Even though when you view it it's ok. Some cameras still have a focus knob somewhere to focus the eye piece.
the camera doesn't record colour in normal mode, but night mode works perfectly...any ideas what I can do to fix it, the focus isn't great in normal camera mode either...thanks
I've been trying to find out the same information. We went to disney this year lost 3 full dvd's worth. Called samsung all they told me was to use memorex mini-dvd's. Thanks alot ):
Anyways hopes this helps a little.
If your unit has a switch for manual focus, put it in manual. If you cannot focus the unit in manual you have a problem with the lense and it will need repaired and/or replaced. If you do not have manual focus you will not be able to troubleshoot the unit. It could be a lense problem as stated before or a problem with the Auto Focus system, perhaps just out of adjustment, or something more serious. Either way if you are not capable of camcorder repair you will have to seek the help of a reputable repair shop. Good luck.
AF/MF (Auto Focus/Manual Focus)
* The AF/MF function works in CAMERA, M.REC mode only.
* In most situations, it is better to use the automatic focus feature, as it enables you to concentrate on the creative side of your recording.
* Manual focusing may be necessary under certain conditions that make automatic focusing difficult and/or unreliable.
Auto Focusing
* If you are inexperienced in the use of camcorders, we recommend that you make use of Auto Focus.
Manual Focusing
In the following situations, you may obtain better results by adjusting the focus manually:
* A picture containing several objects, some close to the camcorder, others further away.
* A person enveloped in fog or surrounded by snow.
* Very shiny or glossy surfaces like a car.
* People or objects moving constantly or quickly like an athlete or a crowd.
Follow These Simple Steps To Set The Manual Focus
1. Set the power switch to CAMERA mode.
2. Turn the MENU DIAL up or down until the FOCUS is highlighted and then press the ENTER button. M. FOCUS(MF) will display.
3. Turn the MENU DIAL up or down until the object is in focus. Zoom out a little if focusing is difficult.
4. To return to AF (Auto Focus: ), press the ENTER button again.
