TV stuck on one channel

My tv is stuck on one channel. The remote doesn't work at all (and yes, I've changed the batteries several times), and if I try the channel change buttons on top of the tv, it always goes to the same channel. Help!

Remove batteries from remote, and test again the touch buttons on TV with remote batteries out. This to exclude the possibility that remote has a stuck button.

If the problem persists , then it is probably a faulty IR board on TV (the one that gets IR signal from remote), or a faulty touch button switch.

Stuck on one channel

Is it the tv's remote? Change the batteries
are you on a cable box? You need to use the providers channel changer. Tv is made to stay on one channel like channel 3 and the cable box runs the different channels.

Directv remote and LG remote will not control tv, just receiver

Let's start simple first. Your TV is not responding to either remote control, but specifically if your factory original LG remote does not operate the LG TV, then the problem could be with the IR receiver in the TV itself.

Ensure nothing is blocking the IR receiver on the TV. Move anything out of the way.

Test both remotes to ensure that they are sending an infrared IR signal to the TV. Use a digital camera (such as the one on your phone) and point the remote into the camera lense and press the power/volume/channel buttons. You should see a faint flashing light in your camera viewfinder. This indicates that the remote is sending IR signal. If you don't see anything, then there is no signal. Try FRESH batteries.

If your remotes are working, and since this is an LG, look at the back of the TV by the video inputs. Look for a port called "REMOTE CONTROL IN" or similar. It looks like a 3.5mm headphone jack. This port is used for external remote control and may be dirty.

UNPLUG the TV, then use a regular 3.5mm male headphone jack to plug in and out several times. You basically want to push all the way in and all the way out several times to dislodge any dust and remove any oxidation that has built up in the port. 10-15 times should do fine.

Then plug in the TV and try your remote.

Best of luck.

Ok. My volume doesn't work. This tv is less than a year old. I can't do anything with the remote, yes the batteries are fresh, and if I try to turn the volume up on the tv, it goes to the menu...

Hi I have seen this intermittent problem before in Philips sets, and what's happened is that the Button interface to the microprocessor, or indeed the microprocessor has failed, often it is the timing crystal, or ceramic resonator that controls all the timing etc, and/or dry joints in that section, it usually costs around $150.00 to fix, however without actually examining the unit, it's impossible to actually tell. So, you need to take it in to an authorised service center and ask first and only for a "Quote" and go from there once appraised of the prospective costings. It has nothing to do with the remote at all, as related it is an internal failure. Contact a Philips head or local office and ask for a referral to an authorised service center.

I have a small magnavox HDTV. I unplugged it to watch it in another room. The next day when I moved it back into the living room I turned it on. Every time I try changing the channel it changes the source...

Is it a multi-function remote? If it is, make sure you've punched the TV button before using it. Also, make sure none of the buttons on the remote or the TV have accidentally been pushed down and are stuck.

TV keeps scrolling through the channels and won't stop. I cannot use the remote. I have unplugged everything, and I took out the batteries in the remote--nothing worked. To turn off the TV, I have to...

Hello,

I think one or two buttons on the TV is stuck in and that should be the channel button. Its pressed in that's hy it keeps scrolling.

Disassemble the TV, remove the TV board carefully to get to the channel button, free the stuck button and TV should be okay again.

Note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a bit before opening the back cover to avoid electric shock.

Good luck.

Remote stuck--can't change channel or turn off TV

Pull out the power plug of your TV and don't use it for few minutes. Remove batteries from your remote and keep it without batteries for few minutes. After about 15 minutes your TV and remove both will work fine.

Sanyo stuck on video mode

Yippie, I figured out a solution that worked!!! I have a univeral remote from comcast, on that remote near the bottom left is a small button that says (input) tv/vcr, press that one time and whala!! the tv video screen was gone, I had to manually change the channel from the tv channel button on the unit. once I changed the channel to 3, my universal remote worked... the button is the second one from the bottom left... I was on hold with sanyo for a long time and just kept trying on my own, so good luck!!!!
