When on a call and another line rings, how do I get the ringing to stop?

When I am currently on a call and another call is coming through, the phone will ring until it goes to voice mail.  Is there anything I can do to make the ringing stop and have it immediately go to voice mail or at least just have the ringing stop?  It is very distracting to continue the original call I am on.

This is possible but it is a feature of your phone system and not the phone. You can have this phone connected to a few different Norstar phone systems that program differently. Your first step is to figure out the model number of the Norstar, Nortel, Meridian phone system you have. You will then need a programming manual for your system.

You probably had a company install and program this system and it may be easier to have that same or a similar company fix this problem. Programming these systems is not easy, so you either have to decide to learn the system and deal with minor changes like this yourself or pay someone else to do them.

Phone rings once, but then stops ringing and I can't answer the call

If you have a landline, most likely you have a short in it. Not enough to kill line, but, when the 90 volts a.c. comes in to ring it jumps short. The short answers the phone.. It doesn't stop out going but can cause static. Check the line at the box outside. if bad there call your phone company, if good there, trouble is in house

Stop ringing at main phones when outside calls come in.

Here is a link to program line ringing.

It sounds like your extension is forwarded (confirmed by the one beep you hear on an incoming call.

From any display phone, press Feature 11
then enter your extension number 2 times. So if you are extension 20, do this:
Feature11-20-20
see if that does it.

Ringing problem

I assume it does not ring but just beeps to let you know another line is ringing in case you want to put the current call on hold and answer it. It's called Off-Hook Call Announce, you want to have that option turned off on your extension or possibly the entire system. Do you have someone at your location that makes programming changes to the system or do you pay a company for that?
