Two answers, depending on if you actually have the computer, or alternatively if you don't have the computer.
If you have the computer, click on the apple logo in the top left on any screen (way in the very top left) and select "About this Mac" - then "More Info" - you will come to "System Information" - scroll through the options and everything about the computer is displayed when you click on the different options on the left hand side.
If you don't have the computer (maybe you are considering buying a used computer and want some specifications about it) ... try these two locations on the internet:

http://support.apple.com/specs/
Hope this helps!

Hi coolfix,
The most common cause of this problem is that the internal drive is broken. If you're able to open up Disk Utility on the computer, you can see if the internal drive is recognized and if its SMART status is "verified". If it's verified, the disk might still be ok, but there's no way to be sure except removing it and testing it in another machine.
If your disk is working, you might just need to reinstall the software from a DVD; hopefully you can obtain one. All you have to do is insert the disc and hold down the C key on your keyboard after you press the power button. Your computer will then boot from the disc and you can install the software or perform diagnostics.
If you have to replace the drive, It's pretty easy with some basic tools and a little technical know-how. Check out THIS guide on ifixit.com. (Make sure your replacement is the right size and uses a compatible interface--look for 2.5" SATA drives from Amazon or other sellers.)
Good luck! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.
