I have had this 32" westinghouse HDTV for about a year and all of a sudden there is a buning plastic smell when it is on. I checked the back and found a lot of dust on it so I used a can or compressed air to blow into the cabinet in hopes to clear all the dust out. Smell doesn't seem to be as bad but there never has been anything wrong with picture or sound. Just the smell.
The problem may cause by the defective transformer on Power supply board. there are 3 transformers on the power supply. http://www.lcdparts.net/LIPSInverterDetail.aspx?InverterOriginal=4H.B0700.051
Please do the vision inspection on power supply, you should be able see the obvious burn on one of these three big transformers.
