Duet gas dryer drum has peeling paint

We had our dryer for 5 years and the white paint inside the drum is peeling off this gets into the clothing and on the kids to me this seams like a problem thats going to get bigger ?? ..could this be caused from a internal fire ?? is this dangerous... thanks for your help Mine is less than 6 years old and I have rust bubbling up on the top only of my dryers. Side and front are fine, just the top section. Inside the door is half peeled off and blue, but the outside is fine.

We have had Ge dryers for years and they all have had paint peal caused by snaps and zippers hitting it over time there are limit switches that should protect from excess heat and shut the dryer off. For a long time Ge laundry products were not very good quality in my opinion I am told they are better now. Just keep the lint screen clean to help air flow, my opinion is that it is more of a cosmetic problem than a safty one. When you can buy a kenmore or maytag.

Why doesn't my dryer dry clothes?

You can find the Installation Instructions and your owner's manual here: http://www.kmart.com/whirlpool-duet-174-7.4-cu-ft-he-gas-dryer/p-02692332000P The links are about halfway down the page and are in red. There are instructions for cleaning the lint screen, which if clogged, will effect the drying time. Hope this helps.

I have an LG gas dryer, lately when the dryer has finished my clothes has a burning smell to them. I recently painted and noticed the smell at that time. Though the paint smell is gone the burnt smell has...

Mark, My name is Hal and having trouble understanding where you painted. Did you paint the inside of the drum? Or did you paint the house interior?

If you painted the inside of the drum did you use a high temperature paint? If not, that could be your problem since the dryer does get very hot inside and it could be melting your paint.

Brown stains in the drum of my whirlpool dryer

Apparently a common problem with 4-5 year old Kenmore and Whirlpool dryers. The paint is rubbed off the back panel by the felt seal attached to the rotating drum. The bare metal gets rusty from the damp clothes. The rust is rubbed off by the felt seal. The entire felt seal will turn brown. The stains are transfered to the clothes. The rust stains can generally be removed by additional cleaning.
I'm going to replace the felt seal on the drum, clean the rust off the back panel and see how long it lasts. Seal w/ adhesive is $30-40.
Some have suggested painting the back panel, but i don't think fresh paint is going to last long. The original paint was probably electrostatically applied and maybe baked on.

The finish on the inside of dryer drum is peeling

Probably due to the age of the dryer, and continous use, especially if it has been used on high heat settings, also the continuous action of clothes turning and thigs like zips and buttons will contribute to wearing away the enamel.

Duet gas dryer drum has peeling paint

I'd say no to both but it is an inconvenience. Check your warranty. You didn't mention a brand or model but on some dryers the drum has a longer warranty than the rest of the machine. Even if not it's worth a call to the manufacturer. Good luck!
