My remote wont turn on or off

First of all have you replaced the battery in the remote? They do need replacing every so often. Some times remotes do wear out and will not work then you have to get a replacement. Is there any thing covering the front of your unit you are operating. If you cover the electronic eye your remote will not work and also make sure the electronic eye on your remote is clean and clear.

Garage door won't close with remote and I have to hold the pad to make it go down, however it opens just fine.

Your safety reversing sensors must be connected and aligned correctly before the garage door opener will close. An obstruction in the path of the sensor will also cause your door to not close.

This sensor is an electronic beam, which is sent between two sending and receiving "eyes". These eyes face each other and are located just inside your garage door. They may need to be adjusted so the beam from the sending eye is properly detected by the receiving eye. Once the receiving eye "sees" the beam from the sending eye, a green indicator light will glow on the top of the eye. Tweak them a bit. If both lights do not come on you have bad sensors.

When you push either the remote or the switch at the door, the garage door will go down almost to the bottom and then come back up and the light will blink several times. This does not happen all the time....

Dish IR Remote 20.0 has problems after sunset.

The problem for me was the TV giving off IR signals that interfered with DISH's poorly designed remote. When the TV's room ambient light sensor was turned on and it became dusk outside the DISH remote would stop working. Moving the receiver away from the TV helps but the problem is not eliminated until the light sensor is turned off.
Until DISH corrects this poor design there may be no other viable solution.

Programing limits on a Grifco MK3 Garage door Operator

It has the "Protector System" (safety sensors). chec the sensor indicator light on the receivinng eye the green light had a slight flicker.cleaned both the sending eye and receiving eye lens of dust and cob webs, then realigned the receiving sensor for a steady green indicator light. then check the door function it now works fine.over time, temperature, and viberation the sensors become dirty and get out of alignment, as no one had tampered with the sensor alignment prior to this. Hope this works for you.

Remote signal not received?

If u can get to the INSIDE front, clean the window of the receiver eye.(of cause the outside also!) If the wires going to the board can be unpluged, unplug, the push it back in. Possable that the receiver eye circuit is too heated up.Put a small (square boxed computer type fan) in the back of the tv to cool it down some.If u know how to "glue" a HEATSINK to the chip to get rid of the heat, may help.
note: it is possable that BOTH regulor and universal r/c are intermittance (sometimes works, sometimes don't work)
