Usually you can login on your browser to you router and go to the management section to check for firmware updates and select that button and it will download and install the firmware. On some models, you have to go to the D-link web site and look for firmware updates for your router. Always check what you current firmware you have installed and check the version of your router modem hardware (A, B, C etc). Then you can manually download the firmware (usually in a ZIP file), open the zip file, and then using your browser connected to the router look for Update Firmware. You will have to go to where (folder) you saved the downloaded update and select that file. It is recommended that you update using a LAN connection and not a wireless connection.

You probably have a 3rd part firewall software on the PC, configure that firewall to allow the same ports. what AntiVirus do you have?

Even though we need more info to resolve the issue, I will make a guess here. My guess is that your D-Link is not configured right, (ie. not pulling the proper info from your ISP's DHCP server.
Try restarting the router and restart or repair your network connection on your pc. Secondly, try to do a "hard reset" on the router, or restore to default. Then reset your connection on the PC. Third, manually set the info on the router.
If you are wireless, you have a whole different issue.

Connect a LAN cable to the router and computer. Open your WEB Internet Explorer and your in the router's URL IP configuration address.
This will be 192.168.0.1 and the default Login = admin and the default password = (blank) just press Enter.
You can now change the default password.

Unplug for 10 seconds and plug back in. It is common for these to build up a static charge and need to be reset
