Riccar 8955 quick cord release

Remove the bag door cover, remove the screws holding the cover over the switch and wires coming into the body of the vacuum. Remove two screws holding the cord in place, unhook the old cord and install the new one the same way the old on was

Remove the dust compartment door to gain access to the cover over the wiring and switch compartment. Remove three screws to gain access to be able to remove the old power cord and slide it through the hole in the back of the vacuum. Put new cord through the hole and wire back up as it was before.

The black wire goes to the switch, the white cord goes to the white wire in the vacuum.

Remove the filter cover by releasing the two latches. If it's been a long time since you've removed the cover it may be difficult to get the filter to release. The filter should be changed once per year for the average homeowner

Your model can last well over 20 years. You might be able to change. The. Brushes yourself but there are adjustments that are difficult to do properly by the average homeowner. It. Would be best to talk to a qualified. Riccar repair technician before you attempt to change the brush strips.

Lay the handle back, release the two tabs. Holding the filter cover to access the filter.

Unwind cord and plug it in
As you view the back of the machine, the foot pedal release is on the bottom left of the vacuum. Press this with your foot to enable you to lower vacuum into cleaning position.
Turn on and vacuum.
On/off switch is on the handle.

The reset button on the Riccar 8955 is located on the back of the vacuum cleaner, at the very bottom, right above the rear wheels. You can push the reset button with a ball point pen or something similar.
