Its likely that the laser head shifted with an impact, replace it or attempt to glue the laser head down by applying glue to the EDGES of the laser focus head. do not get any on the laser lens.

Insignia IS-PDDVD7. DVD will spin but never load. Is this fixable?

There are two other posts with the same issue. I had the same problem yesterday. First, I tried a DVD lens cleaner, but to no avail. Next I tried a manual cleaning with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol. The problem still persisted and I noticed that the laser remained in the middle position each time I changed disks. I manually moved the laser to another position to see if it would make a difference. I finally got it to work by moving the laser to the home position (closest to the center). My DVD player is working now. I apologize for the travel diary, but the solution might have been a combination of the steps I took.

The laser head doesn't seem to be moving and won't

Be sure you try it with a DVD you know has played in this machine before. It might be you have a player that doesn't work with all DVD formats. This seems likely because you can play CDs. Otherwise it's probably a software problem, and since this is a DVD player not a computer I don't know how to help.

Insignia model is-pddvd7 won't load dvd

Remove the cover and clean the glass laser eye with cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.
This will fix the problem if it is self-fixable. If problem persists, you may have to buy replacement or get new laser in yours

Put in disc also same same

Google manual and model number to download a manual.

It sounds like the DVD player itself is not working, maybe you can see if the laser unit moves if you hold down the "closed/open" switch, DO NOT LOOK directly into the laser, it will damage your eyes, tilt the unit so you look in from "the side".

If it does not move try to touch the slider to see if it just needs a little help, remember it is fragile, it is positioned and moved by small plastic finns (do not know if it is the right word).

Yahoo YHT-400 won't read DVD

I have a Yahoo YHT-400 as well, mine is second hand, but it too has a problem with reading discs, that's why buddy I got it from gave it to me for free, since I only wanted it for a 5.1ch receiver/amp for my computer, so far everything else on it seems to still work. As for purchasing another laser assembly/cradle, probably an individual can't do so, but an electronics repair technician might be able to. And the actual manufacturer is *I think* Diamond Electronics. But I'm not entirely sure why there's two laser pickups in the unit, could be something to do with one of the unit's features that it has. I've opened up a couple other DVD players, and they only had the one laser pickup.

When my dvd player starts doing this it usually means that it is going bad and you may need to replace the dvd.

Insignia portable player NS-8PDVDA not working

Here's how I've solved same symptoms with our NS -PDVD8a:

1. Cleaned laser optics with isopropyl alcohol/swap --make sure you let the optics dry/IPA evaporate from the optics before running
2. Using compressed air can--cleaned laser track
3. Gently move laser along track several times - it seems laser is having most trouble at start of disc -- not sure it needs lubrication, but running it along track several times seems to have righted it

Had to do this a couple of times, but it's working now -- expect I will need to do this again -- no idea how long fix will work.

Good luck!

Problem

I have also had the misfortune of owning one of these substandard pieces of trash. I corrected my wrong disc error by manually moving the laser towards the center. The laser seems to jump off track and gets stuck on the outer edge for some reason. I'm still battling a software issue that keeps reverting to the set-up screen.
