Only one thump when car is turned on. problem in amp strength or subwoofer?

Subwoofer thumps once when car is turned on. amp overheated and melted some time ago and I tried repairing (changed all the melted transistors) and since than the sub only thumps once when turned on. Im not sure if its the amp or is the sub blown. a best buy installer attempted to connect a 1000watt rockford amp to the sub and didnt get anything. he tried telling me that the sub is blown... I highly doubt that the amp is strong enough to run the subwoofer. am I right to assume that or is the subwoofer really blown.

No sound from subs except for two thumps when they’re first powered on and occasionally thumps if I toggle phase.

That unit may be as old as 18 years. Things fail in that age category. You need to look at the amp and see if the protection light is on. The parts inside that may have failed require soldering skills to repair

The subwoofers still thump when i turn the volume all the way down. and they're not thumping the song it's kind of random thumping. I looked at the amp, the power wire looked like it was slightly pulled...

try running a wire from the ground to the shielding of the rca's. if that works you have a bad rca ground. you can either get the amp repaired or solder a wire onto the shield of the rca's.

P110 thump,twich when volume off

that is normal. Just because they get such a boost when amp is first turned on. You can always turn off high pass and turn gain down just a tick

Speakers are thumping and cracking when powered up...why?

you are better off setting your deck speakers amp to a high pass filter setting on the amp. Adjust gains to increase desired bass and clarity. Turn off loud button if you have one, that will distort your deck speakers.

Subwoofer "thumping" w. no audio feed

You need to check your ground connection. If there is a bad ground there will be feedback to the amp and it will just sit there and loop back with the Thump, Thump, Thump sound. I had to wire my amp's ground all the way back to the negative battery terminal. It was a pain but I have never had a problem since :)

Thumping Subwoofer

Ive seen this problem in alot of audio setups in vehicles but most peeps dont know this is not a good thing and will cause damage to your woofers or amp. 99% of the time it turns out to be as you said that bad boy muting circuit. alot of these curcuits do use separate transitors or diodes as mute switches but most of them are directly from the Microproccessor. Only way to trouble shoot this is with a schematic and a good car stereo tech. Good luck
