My son recently disassembled one with the same symptom. He found one of the small gears in the drivetrain had split -- causing it to bind and limit motion to a inch or so. It's been in the family 25 years, but we elected to junk the locomotive :(

SOURCE: New Bright Holiday Express Animated Train - figures do not move

Make sure you the wheels on the cars are actually rolling and not sliding (being drug down the track) Most of the animation is down mechanically as the set moves.

We struggled with this just today...finally figured out that you have to twist the small piece right behind the bell on the top of the locomotive.

Testimonial: "Thank you! Now... how do you keep it on the track? :O)"

SOURCE: We are having difficulty turning

Here are a couple of resources from New Bright:
http://www.newbright.com/public/electric-train-faq

http://www.newbright.com/images/Manuals/384%20ws%20manual.pdf

There is no On/Off switch on the train. Power goes from wall plug to transformer, then from transformer to track clip, which must be attached to the track. A control line goes from the track clip to the controller. Mine has a green light just above the red On/Off button that will come on even if the engine and tender are not on the track. The tender does all the work, and must be connected to the engine and on the track. There are four sliding contacts between the tender wheels that provide contact with the track.

I have a singer model 513. It suddenly stopped moving the fabric forward while sewing....the little "teeth" are not moving, is this a belt issue or something else?

The feed dogs are not pulling the fabric through the machine properly. There are gears and arms that make that all happen.
These parts can break. Look for a switch or setting that lowers the feed dogs for free motion sewing. Please let a professional trained technician make any repairs or adjustments.

Will not go forward, but will go reverse

Diagnostic: Poor connection/conduction between carbon brushes and rails.
Solution: Clean carbon brushes and metal rails with solvent. If problem persists you must need to expand the inner carbon brushes' coil spring from the second car.

It sounds like the gears have worn out or come adrift somehow. You will be able to get replacement gears from any of the Lionel authorised dealers Lionel Authorized Dealers or their replacement parts service Replacement Parts

How the power is transfered to the train?

the power from the wall outlet is ( transformed) to 17voilts AC and comes out on posts on the transformer that red and black wires then are connected to the track The rails on the track are entergized and the wheels and the center pickup ride on the track and transfer the power ot the locomotive. the center rail is common and the outside rail is motor power or whisle power.

Train powers up,lights go go.Press forward and it just buzzes.Doesn't move. New Bright said it's the 'Tender Car ".

The tender car supplies power from the track to the entire trian.
Make sure the train will run with just the Loco and the tender. Make sure the tender is securely plugged in to the Loco and make sure the the brushes under the wheels on the tender (this is how power gets from the track to the train) are in contact with the track. Finally use a scotch brite pad (DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL) to clean up the track a little.

You can also take a volt meter and measure for DC between the rails. You should have about 10.5VDC on the track. (Inside rail is neg on mine and outside is pos) ...

Hope this helps..

My watch fell off the band and onto the floor it

This is hard to answer not knowing which watch we are talking about.

If it is a quartz watch: the gear train could have something that blocks it. A shock like a drop can cause any number of things to happen and a quartz watch has not power running the gear train so even the smallest of particles can stop it.

If you have a mechanical watch most likely the problem has to do with the balance wheel and staff. But there could be other things causing this.

To repair your watch it would need to be serviced by a professional that knows what they are doing.

Hope this helps.
