I used to press the (.) period key as a shortcut to launch the speakerphone on my Blackberry Pearl 8110. Now when I press the (.) period key, it asks me if I want to assign a speed dial to it. If I select Yes, it takes me into my caller address book.
How do I reassign the (.) period key to launch my speakerphone?
Any help is appreciated.

A hard reset involves physically removing the battery from the smartphone and then reinserting it. To perform a hard reset, complete the following steps:
1) Remove the battery cover from the back of the BlackBerry smartphone.
2) Remove the battery, and then reinsert it after a few seconds.
3) Replace the battery cover.
Still if it is not working kindly remove the Battery of the Handheld and try in some other Handheld.
If the Battery is working fine in the other Handheld then there might be some problem with your Handheld, you need to walk into the service center.

I solved the problem by doing a Hard reset, this means taking the battery out while the phone is still on, leaving it out for 30 seconds, replace the battery, the phone will then turn on, it resets itself and it worked just fine. But I would suggest removing your memory card or saving the pics on it because I think it deleted some pictures on it. But I still don't know what caused it to have this problem in the 1st place, it was like it froze up in the call log mode. Removing the battery did fix it.
Create a shortcut
Open the folder or directory that contains the program you wish to create a shortcut for.
Right-click on the program and click Create Shortcut.
This will create a shortcut named "Shortcut to <your program> in the directory you are in. If you wish to rename this shortcut, right-click the file and click rename.
Once the above steps have been completed, you can copy or cut this shortcut and paste it anywhere to execute this program.
Assign shortcut key to that Windows shortcut
Once the shortcut has been created to assign a shortcut key to that Windows shortcut follow the below steps.
Right-click the shortcut and click Properties.
Click the Shortcut tab.
Click in the Shortcut key box and press a letter. For example, if you press "p" the shortcut key will automatically be made Ctrl + Alt + P. Which means if saved when pressing Ctrland Alt and "P" all at the same time will run that shortcut.
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/mapkeyboard.html freeware MapKeyboard enables you to remap your keyboard and alter any key to function as a different one or optionally disable it as well. The program can be quite useful for laptop users and people with keyboards that differ from the standard
