There is a button that turns off the screen and turns on the eyepiece. Try finding that button and press it and the screen should turn on again. If not there may be damage to the screen.
It sounds like the receiver is in single mode (you said it was in dual mode) or shared viewing. With shared viewing disabled, you will not get a picture on TV 2, only TV 1. If you are not getting a picture (black screen) on TV 2, you should change the setting for Shared View on your receiver.
Make sure your receiver is in Single mode by pressing the Mode button on your receiver (should have only the green light lit on the front of the receiver and the single mode amber light). Press the Menu button on your remote to display the Main Menu on your TV 1. Press 6 (System Setup) and 2 (Shared View). Move the cursor to Enable Shared Viewing. Press Select on your remote (Enable View should have purple dot). Then press Done. Exit out of the other screens till you have a picture on your TV 1 screen. Make sure the receiver is in dual mode and then check to make sure you have a picture on TV 2.

It could be due to some loosing insde the laptop screen. In my view there are two things. 1. The data connection between the laptop motherboard and the screen (through cable) 2. The connectors inside the screen.
It is highly recommended that you get the laptop checked by a professional to avoid any further damage to it.
1) Switch on your PC
2) Right Clickin the middle of the dekstop and click on properties
3) This will open a display properties window, at the top there will be a tab called settings
4) In this windows half way down there will be a option entitled screen resolution, this slider can be pushed to the left or right push to the left until the figures at the bottom read 1440 X 900 pixels

while i dont have a true answer, I can tell you its a magnavox tv sold by sears produced back in 93. Ours just started doing this last week. I couldnt find any help online so we replaced it with a new led flat panel. WOW what a difference, the LXI was great for the past 17 years but the new tvs are better. We put the LXI in the garage because we couldnt throw it away. That tv was like a family member, if i figure out how to fix it i will post the how to.
Some cameras dont - did yours ever?
Personally I prefer the viewfinder to peering at a screen especially in the bright light.
But check out your manual for this - usually there is a more comprehensive manual as a PDF file on the CD>
