I have a netgear readyNAS NV+ that i want to reset the password.

Whether you bought a used Netgear router or just forgot your own password, you can reset it and start over.

This is not an unusual problem, so Netgear has made resetting and restarting their routers a simple task

Connect all of your devices.
If your Netgear router is not already connected, it should be plugged in, with one Ethernet cable connecting it to your computer and a second Ethernet cable connecting it to your computer's modem.

Locate the reset button on the rear of your Netgear router.
The reset button is a small inset button and requires a pointed object to reach it.

Use a fine-tipped pen to hold the button down for at least 10 seconds.
The test light should flash during this process.

Open your Internet browser and enter the Netgear router's IP address into the address bar to access the router's information. Generally, Netgear routers use the IP address 192.168.0.1, but the specific IP address will be listed in the router's manual.

Attempt to log in to the router with the default username and password.
The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password."

If the router's username and password were not cleared away, unplug the router and try holding down the reset button.

While you are holding down the reset button, plug the router back in.
Log in to the router using the default "admin" username and "password" as the password.

You can now reset your information, rename your router and enter your own username and password.

I have a netgear router, which needs booting but i am away from home and cannot do this, is there a way that it can be rebooted.

1.Log in to the modem router at its default LAN address of http://192.168.0.1 with its default
User Name of admin, default password of password, or using whatever User Name,
Password and LAN address you have changed and chosen for the modem router.
2. The ADSL Modem Wireless Router has a diagnostics feature. You can use the diagnostics menu to Reboot the modem router.
3.From the Main Menu of the browser interface, under the Maintenance heading, select the Modem
Router Diagnostics heading to display the menu shown.
4. The modem router will then reboot automatically

I forgot my netgear modem router password

If you have changed the default password, you need to reset the router to the factory settings to get in with the default user and password (user admin and password as password, or if that doesn't work try 1234). Note that you will lose the ISP settings and wireless settings when you reset the router.

Here's a video on how to reset the router to the factory default settings: http://kbserver.netgear.com/media/flash/training/Troubleshooting/NG_WGR614V9Router_TS_LostPassword.html

Have forgotten password. How do I find this?

Which password do you mean? The wifi passowrd or the admin password?
The admin password is likely to be password (if it hasn't been changed) but the Wifi password you will only be able to see if you can access the router.
Easiest way is to use an ethernet cable between the router and the computer. Open up the netgear admin page (admin & password), then on the left hand side click on Set-up and then select wireless settings. Your wifi password will either be written on the next page or you will see four boxes of numbers with a blue spot against one of them. That one is your passowrd.

Network key

If you forgot your admin password too, it's gonna be tough.

On a computer connected to the network go to www.routerlogin.com the usnername is always admin and the default password is password. If that gets you in, you should have no trouble finding the networking key under wireless settings.

If you don't know the login password, you may have to reset the router.
