1998 dakota 4x4
You can remove the drain plug in the bottom on the radiator.
You can remove the lower radiator hose. Since the vehicle is 10 years old you may want to inspect the hoses for replacement anyway.

) Make sure the vehicle is cool.
) Slightly loosen the radiator cap to release any pressure.
) Re-tighten the radiator cap.
) Place a suitable container under the drain point.
) open the drain.
) Re-loosen the radiator cap again.
) Allow to drain.
) REPLACE THE DRAIN PLUG.
* At this point the radiator can be fill with water and a radiator cleaning agent- run the engine - allow to warm up.
* Re-drain the radiator - .
) REPLACE THE DRAIN PLUG.
) Refill the radiator with water/anti-freeze.
) Dispose of waste fluid according to the local regulations. Some city dumps will accept it. Some parts stores may accept it. Do not pour down the drain or dump on the ground.

Drain plug. If you turn it slowly, you will start to see green fluid come out before it is complete out. It may have a short drain hose attached.

Since this vehicle is 10 years old and you are changing the radiator fluid, you might consider changing the water pump and drive belts.

WHere is the radiator drain plug on a 1993 Dodge Dakota?

Here is a picture and shows the location as

Your radiator drain plug is located on the bottom of the radiator, driver's side engine side. It simply unscrews but does NOT come all the way out.

Where is radiator drain plug 02 dodge dakota

This is a post on the Dakota forums:
My 2001 Durango and 2002 Dakota they use the same radiator. You'll have the same setup. I have recent and intimate knowledge of draining them. Crawl under the left front of the truck and look up at the bottom of the radiator. At the bottom of the driver side radiator tank (facing toward the fender) is a 3/4" long flat handled plug. Twist your hand (with a pair of pliers) up there from the back side of the bumper fascia. Grip it and give it a 180* counterclockwise twist. It is now opened and draining out the little nipple sticking straight down from the bottom of the side tank. You can stick a 5/16" (or 3/8") hose onto the nipple to drain it into a bottle or pan without making a mess.

Radiator replacement

Start by removing the shroud over the radiator area. There should be little plastic screws in it holding it on. Then drain the coolant from the old radiator. there should be a drain on the lower passenger side of the radiator facing the rear. looks like a white nut, turn that until fluid runs out. Make sure you have something available to catch the coolant. I used a small rubber hose attached to the end of drain to direct it to container. After all fluid has drained, disconnect the overflow hose running to the plastic bottle on right of radiator. Remove the 3 bolts holding the bottle in place, and remove. You will not have to remove fan and shroud from vehicle if you just remove the four bolts holding the blade itself to the pulley you can then slide them back far enough away from radiator to get it out. That will make things much easier. there are two other hoses that attach to the radiator 1 on upper passanger side and 1 on lower driver side, remove those. Then remove the two transmission cooling lines from the radiator and plug the ends to prevent dirt getting in. Once all hoses and lines are detached from radiator remove the two mounting bolts at top of the radiator where it attaches. Those are the only bolts holding it in. it rest inside grooves at bottom so you just pull up the radiator and you have it removed. Installation is the opposite of removal. Try to get your plastic (degas) bottle as clean as you can if your reusing . If radiator will not drain through plug for whatever reason, removing the lower driver side hose will drain very quickly but be ready for a rush of coolant. I hope this helps you out.

Need to drain coolant from 1998 Olds Intrigue. What is best way? (3800 Engine)

COOLANT CHANGEON THE RADIATOR (LOWER DRIVERS SIDE FACING THE MOTOR) THERE IS A PLASTIC LIKE PLUG THAT YOU TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE ABOUT 3/4 OF A TURN, THEN YOU CAN PULL IT OUT ABOUT 1/2 AN INCH THIS WILL DRAIN THE RADIATOR, THEN YOU CAN PUSH THE PLUG BACK IN AND TURN IT UNTIL YOU FEEL IT LOCK BACK IN PLACE. REFILL RADIATOR WITH 3 PARTS COOLANT TO 1 PART WATER.
1998-'99 Intrigues equipped with the 3800 engine have a specific process for replacing antifreeze. It is somewhat of a lengthy process and you should refer to your owners manual for doing this. After you empty and flush your system with water (garden hose), only fill the system with green 50/50 antifreeze, NOT Dex-Cool. Avoid Dex-Cool. If you bring your Intrigue to a shop to get serviced, make sure and inform whoever doing repairs and/or leave a note (clearly visible) to NOT use Dex-Cool if they're doing any work pertaining to cooling system.
