I have a Haier mini-fridge: HNSE05. It was working great for a while, and then just stopped one day. After it sits for a bit, you can get it going again by fiddleing with the temp setting dial (inside). Works fine again for a day or two, and then stops again.
First I thought maybe it was overheating (had it stuck in a fairly tight spot), but took it out into the middle of the floor to check... still shut down after a short time running.
How can I fix this? It's still under warrantee, but I cannot find my receipt, or even a contact number for Haier (I'm in Calgary, Canada).
Thanks,
TylerS
I have the same model - bought at target with the same identical symptoms. It was purchased to hold soft drinks and water, lightly loaded, and infrequently opened. It worked fine for about 4 months. I realized that it had gotten quiet. Opened the door and the box was dead. Unplugged it and opened the door. The next day, I tried plugging it in. I twisted the temp knob, and it came back to life. Lasted for 2 weeks, and it it dead again... I have the same model - bought at target with the same identical symptoms. I can hear mine running, but it doesn't keep cool inside. I went on a trip out of state, so it wasn't opened for long time, I went to stock it with sodas and it was warm inside.

I talked to Haier. They told me "if I thought it was worth fixing you can take it to a repair man". Ha-ha!I talked to Haier. They told me "if I thought it was worth fixing you can take it to a repair man". Ha-ha!

RF-6850-16 Start Relay Is the compressor again getting hot once you turn the temperature down? Will the refrigerator cool if you turn the temperature to as cold as it can get? Reason I ask is I am trying to decide if it is the thermostat or a defective staryt relay. Even at the cost of parts I would be careful and sure of what you are going to do here. Haier is not well know for quality products or customer support and there are other brands names out there that will support customers much better than Haier. Not trying to say bad things about your refrigerator I just hate to see when people invest into something and then get left holding something that Haier will not help with and does to all of their customer. Thanks Sea Breeze I have lost valuable customers because of Haiers lack of customer support.
my trf 285 intergrated fridge freezer has same problem fridge is freezing our food have been informed that a valvue is stuck open the solution offered was defrost and leave for 2 days i did that it did not work the valvue is not replaceable hope this is some help
Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.
on its side? considering the chemicals inside the freezing elements, it needs to sit upright for 24 hours before you plug it in, or you may break it. so if thats what you mean, why is it sideways?
The click you heard is the thermal overload. This snaps open when the compressor is too hot.
Unplug the unit for 24 hours and don't move it.
Then plug it in and see if it comes back on temp.
